Subject: Carrara and Poser

Im thinking of getting Carrara 3 in order to import Poser animations (via TransPoser) for better lighting and rendering. But my 30-day trial version of Carrara is very slow at rendering low-resolution stills and Im wondering whether AVI animations would take an eternity to render. Can anyone comment on this?

I use Carrara 3 and have never found the rendering to be slow. But a lot of it would depend on your machine. - Noel

I use C3, Transposer and P5. C3 renders much faster than P5. For what it's worth, I'm very happy with the combination of the 3 apps, although I don't care for modeling in C3.

you can also do it by C2.1 manualy....i do it all the time....well...i dunt have a choice since i spent my money on C4D instead...i figured id have to pass C3 and Transposer and do things the hard way since i aint got no more moolah for that nonsense....i figured id get that package instead...but C2.1 renders faster than P5 (with max production values) with the same scene... i love C2.1.....i know what it likes and dont like with my machine.... i decided to boycot C3 when i found out Transposer dont work with C2.1....why anyway? probably just plain marketing bullcrap....make Transposer compatible only for C3 to up the sales of C3 to make it Eovia's new flagship software....get rid of C2.1....prety much understandable since increased profit is the main goal.... anyway....enough of the sour grapes.... you can import Poser scenes into C4D too...and the good thing is the plugin for this is FREE!! well....you dunt realy need the plugin....it just makes importing a lot easier and more flexible....and did i mention its FREE?? :P aight man.

Thanks to all for the helpful comments. I assume endered AVIs will present no particular problem and am going ahead with Carrara.
