I recently tried the tut on adding a magical effect to a rendered image that was recently posted in the tut section of this site by Ariah. It is a great tut and you can come up with some great effects but I ran into some trouble in the moving of the effect. When I drag the completed effect over to the image i am trying to use it with, all that is moved is the base white lines and not the actuall glow effect. I contacted Ariah and she is as stumped as me. She even sent me a file she did so I could use it and the same thing happens. I was wondering if anyone here has tried the tut and got the same thing or does anyone know what might be going wrong? Please help if anyone can.

I ran through the tut while it was pending and didn't find any probs... even tried to replicate your issue but the "layer effect" moves between files for me, no prob...

but here are a couple of things to look for on your end. First: make sure your file is in RGB mode (...the glow came over but was in grey scale... may indicate the files are in different "colour modes" )

Second: make sure your file and her file is open, "right-click" on her layer that has the effect and select Duplicate Layer. In the pop-up dialog box select your file from the "drop-down" menu.

The layer effect should move just fine...

let me know if this helps or feel free to send me a copy of your PSD and i can try and see if it happens to me too...
