Both have their place. They are quite different in features and construction, so hard to compare directly. If you only have the budget for one, go with the cyclorama bacause there is a lot more free and commercial add-ons for it. Both are easy to use, fast to set up but not flexible enough to be called real environments - no matter what the advertising claims. Alternatives to the Cyclorama are around such as Nerd3D's backdrop tool and the Infinity Cove at Runtime DNA, but if you want a real environment system, consider the MicroCosm series at RDNA.

And Harvey Mann's 3D Worlds Kit - it's great

I've got the cyclorama, the infinity cove free set, the microcosm free set, the worldz set from 3dworldz, and I love them all. As stated above, they each have their good and bad points. I've discovered making my own "panels" for the cyclorama (much easier than I had thought) and infinity cove will take almost anything as a background. I haven't purchased the newer environment set from Sirius because I've been strapped for cash but it looks lovely. My motto: free is good! Download the daylights out of everything you can find and play with it. Then, purchase what is left and repeat as needed. Hey, Poser is an addiction...feed the need...now, how to get the lawn to spread like I want in the cyclorama.....hmm.....

Between the two mentioned I would go for Cyclorama first. Get the templates and the tutorial in the Daz Arcane section and play. As you are financially able I would then get RDNA's Micrcosom, lot of support and goodies. Between those two you can make some very unique scenes...experiment!

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

I have both and use them from time to time for small images. Keep in mind that the images are NOT high resolution and much above 8x10 will pixelize. I'll write to DAZ about this because it would be great to print 13x19 which many of us can do. It would be great to print even more. Also, don't overlook the RDNA Infinity Cove. Its free. Nevertheless, DAZ is fun to play with. Of course, you can make your own high res images and use those instead.

Have themboth. Like them both. Great for different purposes as said above. I personaly of the two prefer the Mil Environment but, as said there's more out ther for the Cyclorama.

I have both as well. I also have the DNA Microcosm which is far superior for "building environments" directly in Poser. If you want "quick" either cyclorama or Mil Environment is fine. If you really want to create the best environments though, an environment creator like Vue or Bryce are the very best. If you're a DAZ PC club member and have played with DAZ Studio, you can get Bryce 5 with the built in exporter very cheap right now. You can then use DAZ studio to export your characters into your environment created in Bryce.
