Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 1:43 pm)
Well, to start with, acquire MAT Pose Edit (here in freestuff). It is an incredible aid. Then, hunt down mercytoo's tutorial on using it (there's a copy at DAZ3D). Should get ya going no problem :)
thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)

Get MAT Pose Edit 3... free and works great :)"you are terrifying

Would be nice if MAT Pose Edit 3 has support for Poser 5's materials, but otherwise it is a nice piece of software. Another way to make a MAT pose is to simply copy the material lines out of the object (cr2, hr2, pp2, whatever2) and paste it into a new file. Add the "figure" lines up top and version number and you're pretty much done.
----snip-----
{
version
{
number 5
}
actor $CURRENT
{
material SkinBody
{
KdColor 0.984314 0.784314 0.713726 1
KaColor 0 0 0 1
KsColor 0 0 0 1
TextureColor...
----snip----
That's what the beginning should look like.
Since you are using Poser 5, then this will be more than adequate. The "actor $CURRENT" line is special, allows you to materialize anything with that material name with that material. So it doesn't have to be figure-specific.
And as I said, just copy/paste the material section from the character/prop/hair or whatever file and put it into a .pz2 file, store it in your Poses folder and double-click it in Poser to activate.

I have a newly reworked python script for this - also does thumbnails, allows you to enter the filename and so forth. It does P5 shaders too..

How does oen go about creating a MAT pose? I just finished a character that I want to start over with but I am too lazy to reapply all the textures.
