Well I received my copy of Poser5 via UPS today and Ive been having a blast just goofing around with it this evening. Mind you, I have yet to attempt any tutorials or instructionals, so what you are about to read is akin to a narrative of a chimp playing with surgical implements. Within ten minutes of install I had a rendered picture of Don giving the bird (I emailed it to my roomate...he he). Ive gotten to the point where I can simulate simple mens hairstyles using the hair room, but getting the colors for differant chunks of hair to match is still tricky. Mostly Im just figuring out the GUI, but Im learning quickly. Thanks for the suggestions & encouragement the other day!

Welcome aboard! Say goodbye to your social life for me. I kinda miss mine sometimes.

Oh man...you are in for to much fun. A very addictive program. "Hi, my name is Tony, and I am addicted to Poser."

You are welcome, and welcome to the community! There are a lot of helpful folks here who can answer questions or point you towards a tutorial or model or whatever you need to make your images. I hope that learning continues to be fun. When you get to the Materials Room, you might want to look for Ajax's package of nifty textures. For getting the dynamic clothing to drape right, PhilC and Nerd and SergeMarck and a couple other people have tutorials. The FAQs here and Dr Geep's primers cover much of the basic useful information. I believe that Geep's first Poser 5 tute covered the interface. :) Carolly Poser Coordinator

I'm new to Poser as well, and it's true. You forget you have a social life. I have so many ideals in my head, I don't know where to start first. Also, everyone here has been great. Very helpful Thanks, Smoov

HB did you remember to grab the updates from the Curious Labs website? I'm not sure if they've started shipping copies with the patch included so if your version number is anything other than V5.0.4.325 you'll need the updates ( click "help" then "About Poser" to find the version number) Oh yeah if you have loved ones kiss them goodbye now before you forget them totally ;) I noticed you didn't mention yourself in your list of experts to tap for help Carolly, too modest for your own good ;)

Welcome to the crazy world that is Poser. Here in lies addiction, my friend. It starts so subtley, first the urge to get up a little earlier of a morning, for a 'quick pose', then the spending more than you would like on 'important extras' at sites like this and Daz, then the tying up the phone lines downloading above mentioned extras, plus all the millions of freebies you just have to have, then the not going to bed until the small hours coz that hair is not quite right, then the watching people all the time, hair flicks, boobs bounce, eyes flicker, hands twitch, then the dketching possible scene ideas on scraps of paper, backs of envelopes, important tax returns, then the abandonment of all you hold dear, family, friends, pets, Ah, Poser - my only addiction.

but getting the colors for differant chunks of hair to match is still tricky. You can save the material of one hair section to the material palette (use the little plus button), then apply it to your other hair sections.

Wow, thanks for the response folks! Especially thanks for the tutorial suggestions, theyve helped me figure out the interface!

eeks! I forgot stewer is also one of the key Poser 5 experts with FAQs and tutorials at his site, too, but I don't have the link to it. :sigh: We are really fortunate in this community to have so many good people. Carolly

Now the content, My Precious, yesssss.... Shows the nice newbie all the nifty toys, the DAZ site and RDNA and PoserPros and Rendervisions and Renderotica if its big enough, oh yesss... Swords and guns and Dystopia's, My Precious... Whips and chains and racks that brings pains...Icky-poo, but they sell very well, Precious... Clotheses and shoesies from Billy-T, that fashion monger. Never sees real people in things like that...not unless models they are, yes, yes... All the lovely Freebies...better stock up on DVD-R's Precious, you'll need them. Freebies can go 'poof!'sometimes, and then all gone forever. Lost, lost... Don't worry about the credit card, Precious. It has a limit, and paying it down all the time is good for you, yess. Builds character...not to mention a good credit rating. And Rice-a-roni isn't =that= bad, Precious, and you can always run a drop cord to a neighbor's porch. Paints it right, and they'll never see it. Yes, follow Us, Precious. Safe it is, yes, yes, and don't mind the spider webs. Maid service around here stinks, you know. Never stay more than a day before they vanishes forever....can't imagines what happens... :P
