I've had this problem before and I'm sure it's been discussed too but I cannot remember what I'm doing wrong. I am trying to put textures on an OBJ that I've just imported. When I select the texture it shows up in the preview window, but when I go to render, it doesn't show up, just a blank material. See attached image. Thanks for any assistance!

Is the object UV Mapped?

Yes, when I exported the obj file from Max, I checked the use UV coordinate and textures option.

Well that's strange : your rendered portion shows a grey-brown area with 3 reflective spots whereas your shader has set the highlight size to 0. Are there several materials in this prop (such as a "preview" material created on import that would override the right material ?).

compiler, you might be on to something. There are about 15 materials associated with this prop and I renamed the textures after exporting from Max. I'll check this out and keep the texture names the same to see if this helps. Thanks!

No that didn't work either, I kept all the texture files the same name. Another interesting thing is that the Diffuse color will change on the object whenever I select a different color, but it just won't render with any texture map. And even when the diffuse color is pure white, the object will render much darker. There is definitely a conflict going on somewhere!

Now I'm thinking it might have something to do with the naming conventions of the texture files. Some of the textures are called xxxxx.xxxx.xxxx.jpg I don't think Poser likes that. They will work with files named xxxx_xxxx.jpg I think I might have to do the tedious task of renaming all the textures before exporting.
