You can't actually see the number of votes for an image unless it's in the Hot 20 so I'm not sure what you mean, if you're talking about "rankings" those are different than "votes". Simply ranking an image does not give it a vote, you have to click on the "vote for this image" button between the image and the comments section.
Thanks .. I usually VOTE for an image I like, but assumed the votes were rankings. Now I know different. Why would not the "votes" show as well? I as sure it is confusing to many to see (for example) a picture with 20 rankings and 100 viewings not to have a single vote, while others with no rankings and no comments make it into the Vue Hot 20 with no rankings and no comments. I don't care to see "who voted", just the number of votes. Seems it would fair to all who post in the Vue Gallery to see how many actual votes were cast for their works. If each picture can track comments and rankings, why can't it track votes as well? Not the names of voters, just the actual votes. Or is this a secret or something?
If you really feel strongly about it you probably need to bring this up in the Community Center Forum as this relates to all the galleries and not just the Vue gallery. It's just the way Renderosity does their galleries and has nothing to do with the Vue gallery specifically. This sort of topic has come up before and what it basically amounts to is that most people don't actually vote, I may really like an image but 99% of the time I won't vote for it, not because I don't think it's incredible or beautiful or anything like that, I just don't think about voting all that much. Implementing the tracking of the votes for everybody's image would probably show a lot of images with no votes at all and just reinforces the whole popularity contest issue that's been raised before about the Hot 20 concept. You can also choose when uploading to not let people rank or comment on your image. Personally, I upload an image to get feedback and get ideas for where to go with the next image, if you're doing the artwork just to get as many viewings, rankings, and votes as possible then what's the point? I do my artwork for me, I like to share it and see what other's think but in the end I'm the one that the artwork was created for.
While I agree with you 100%, and I know that most people don't vote.. maybe they should think about it. That would help don't you think? I'm not trying to make this an issue. Just that a lot of very good works go up that are entitled to a vote... if they have allowed voting to be set. So all I'm saying is if everyone that liked a picture, set up for a vote, actually voted, the sheer number should stop any so called popularity contest. What I consider good, may not be considered good by others. But, there are many good works and artists here that deserve credit. All I'm suggesting is take the time to vote if a vote is allowed and you like the work displayed.
That said, I do appreciate your clearing this up for me in regards to ranking, comments and votes. Thanks!

Regarding the "Hot 20 List, the explanation is as follows: "The Hot 20 is based on the number of votes by members an image has gotten in the previous 7 days. The button for voting is below the full size image after you click on the thumbnail. Thus, one member can only generate one view during the 7 day period. The main gallery does not track unique viewings, so it's count will always be higher. These ranking are updated in real time. Surfers that are not logged in can not vote. The vote button is not shown when you browse through the Hot 20. " I see great images with as many as 16 votes, and 30 comments never make it to this list. I vote on many artist's images, many with at least 6 votes or more during the seven day period but I never see them appearin this listing... yet images that show "no votes" in the Vue section sometimes appear ranked in the top ten with 7 or 10 votes. What am I missing? I am sure there is a reason for this that I just dont get..
