Everyone be careful for the mydoom computer virus attacked thousands of servers today with Denial of Service attacks. Even Google was completely locked up for hours. The virus downloads loads of spyware and webpage-redirect programs onto the server which will lock it up and then infect all of its network. Just advising people not to open any suspicious e-mails.

After getting a couple hundred of these early this morning, I added these subjects to my e-mail filters: returned mail data format error delivery failed mail system error delivery reports returned to sender could not be delivered failure notice test error status That clears up about 99% of it, letting it automatically be deleted from the server without me downloading it. And what a relief...I can see my actual e-mail again.

I use "Mail Washer" and get to delete the junk from the server before it hits me as well. Nice program.

You may like to have a look at this:
http://www.e-dotcom.com/spam_exp.php

I set up my mail using these guide lines and spam (including virus laden spam) has gone from 100/day to 1/day most them are through my domain name registration.

It does take some setting up, and hosting/domain name costs, however the I am happy with the hosting service mentioned and my incomming Email is now under control.
I have no affilition with any of the companies mentioned.

@ Richard_T: when you purchase a domain, use an e-mail addy that you don't care if it receives spam. Use a Yahoo or Hotmail address, and never use your actual physical street address either. You should be able to modify your personal info for your domain registration through whatever control panel your host provides to insert a bogus street and e-mail address. There is no law stating whois information has to be factual.
