Subject: Looking for 1930s outfits for pulp-style scenes

ghoyle1 ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2004 at 11:20 AM · edited Sun, 24 November 2024 at 5:20 PM

I'm looking for some 1930s style clothing for V3 for some pulp scenes I'm working on. Evening wear, casual wear, action gear, just about anything will do. Any suggestions? Thanks! Guy

If you had said the '40s, I would have recommended rwaller's store here in the Marketplace.

Shoot, those are nice. If I can't finad anything 1930s ish ianytime soon, then I might just be throwing a few dollars at rwaller. Thanks for the tip!

There's a 20's or 30's car and outfit somewhere in the MP, I just saw the banner for it yesterday. Danged if I can remember who did it, though. Sorry.

Hey, I found it! It's called "era-1930." Here's the link.

Yeah, it's the 1930s outfit for Vicky 2 an a similar car. The outfit is for V2, whereas I'd rather use V3, but it's an idea. The outfit is also a feminine version of a man's suit (several suits, actually). Thanks for the suggestion! Guy

I have a Pulp Adventuress set for sale at Poser Pros It is for Vicky 1/2. I did start a V3 version, but never finished it(the Joint parameters still need to be adjusted). I think I used The Tailor for some of it so it's a little lumpy but not too bad (that's the V3 version as it currently looks in the attached picture) If you do get the V1/2 set, e-mail me and I will be happy to finish up the V3 version for you. I would also make some MAT poses to Hide and Unhide parts of V3 covered by clothes to help prevent poke through.

poser fashion has some good older looking dress types for v3.

Those look pretty nice; I'll have to check them out. Thanks!

Poserworld has some good stuff too, clothes and cars from the '20s thru '40s ... with and without the bulletholes ;-)

ghoyle1 ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2004 at 6:47 PM

Yeah, I think I'll have to make it more or less the 40s. Unfortunately, most of the stuff there that's most period is for V2, not V3

ISOP (correct name? , also down in my database as ISO), a Japanese site..(hang on..;) has a 40's outfit for Mike, handy too..but that's the wrong decade..of course, individual parts may work..

Remember that V3 comes with a V2/V3 option, a character with V3's headmorphs that can wear V2's clothes. Since you're obviously going to clothe your character anyway, it could be a solution, and it would give you a much broader choise.

I'm considering relaxing the decade requirement a bit, because it's so hard to find 1930s style outfits. The idea is to convey the impression of pulp novels and cliffhanger serials, so the exact decade probably doesn't matter much anyway. (KuroKuma's Sky Hunter Rocket Man and his two spaceships have given me a lot of inspiration).

I suspect you're really looking a pre-WW2 and post-WW2 for fashions, rather than by decade. I've seen odd freebies too: Runtime DNA has a set of adventurer's hats, a sun helmet and a flying helmet with goggles.

AntoniaTiger ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2004 at 5:13 AM

Quick thought: some WW2 uniforms could have useful elements. I've seen at least one pair of breeches with a WW2 German uniform, somewhere.

That's probably true. I'll start hunting down uniforms. Thanks for the tips! Guy
