Subject: quick question

I have a chance to purchase either a 19' monitor and run it as a second monitor on my new oxygen card or upgrade my pc from a celeron 400 to a P3 whatever. I'm not really to disappointed with my machine speed currently but how much nicer is having two monitors.

Although faster processors and more ram are an endless pursuit, I find 2 monitors essential. I'm a graphic designer that uses Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and RayDream (not much Carrara now because of bug issues) all day long. It makes work so much easier when I can concentrate on only the image on one monitor, yet have access to all of the palettes and tools at one glance on the other, without having to continually open and close or move things out of the way. With 3D, I like to use the other monitor for the hierarchy or timeline windows only to allow for viewing most, if not all the elements in the scene.

I LOVE two monitor systems. I do not have one at home right now b/c I am running windows 98 and have only heard bad things about '98 and 2 monitor support. I would move to NT but I just cant go on living w/o some occasional gameplay...and most of my games wont operate under NT :( But if your ok with your system performance a two monitor system is the best treat you can give yourself!

I, too love two monitors, but I'd be very wary of running two of them on a PC platform. Mac handles dual monitors very well, but it's still buggy on PC's (at least in my experience). Good luck!

Just my two credits... I too have dual monitors on my Mac G4 at work, for Photoshop, Illustrator, Ray Dream, etc. The main image i place on the 21"; all pallets, etc. on the 17". At home on my supermac I have one single 17". Claustrophobic!! And at the risk of sounding like a religious fanatic, Mac is definitely the way to go for dual monitor setups. Not only has the mac been supporting it for years, I know a guy who tried two monitors on his PC and gave up on frustration, switched over to Mac for this (and other ) reasons. thanks for reading!
