Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for this new character I'm working on? Specifically, I like the idea of using a fractal for the wing texture, but I can't seem to get it on there as I would like to. Also, does anyone know where I can get a good trans map for the Poser 4 conforming curls trans map? Thanks! Mike

I love this angel. Will you be making it available? Those wings are fantastic! Allie has a good trans map for the long conforming curls. Its at http://home.wnm.net/~bgriff/allie/

Thanks, Jen! I'll check out the link. :) I was planning on making the girl available, but without special permission, I couldn't let the other stuff go. The sword is the "Wallace's Sword" from 3D Cafe, and the chain mail armour is from Nerd, available here in the Free Stuuff, if he didn't pull it, but I don't think he did. I can't remember where I got the jewelry from. And as for the wings, I bought them from Jeffrey Howarth, and obviously I can't include them. But I agree, the wings are FANTASTIC and well worth the price! :) But at least I can give out the character's cr2 file, as well as the hair. The girl has a lot of MT's which I made myself, and she'll come with some faces and poses, too, if the file isn't too large...maybe later today, for that matter. :) Thanks again! Mike

okies thanks. She sounds really neat. Can you tell me where to find the wings please. I love them. I have the chain clothes already. :) the jewelry is neat too.

Jen, Here's the link for the wings: http://members.bellatlantic.net/~howarths/ They really are great, and if you get them, you won't be disappointed. :) I wish I could remember where I got the jewelry from, though. Cheers, Mike

Heya Mike, Cool character. Just a note about the wings. They are embedded in the pz3/cr2 so make sure you delete them from the scene before storing the figure to the library for distribution. Thanks, -Jeff H.

Thanks Jeff! Yeah, I already knew that, though, and don't worry about it, 'cause it isn't gonna happen. :) I've had a few compliments from people on the wings, and people almost always ask where did I get them from? Maybe you ought to advertise them some more! Anyway, without the wings, the armour, jewelry, and sword, she's nuthin'! So, I'm probably just going to keep her for myself for now, but post some MT's and the hair which is more or less a custom job, and some faces, too, until I finish modelling my own props. You should ssee the wings I've made--- they SUCK! So you don't have any competition here. LOL! Cheers, Mike PS Do you have any tips on how I might be able to get that fractal texture I made to "fit" better? I've been trying new UV Maps, but I keep going back to the original, because I can't outdo it. Also, would it be acceptable for me to post some MT's for the wings?

JeffH ( ) posted Wed, 01 November 2000 at 8:45 AM

How is it that you want the fractal texture to look? You would probably have to create a custom mask/selection in a 2d app that follows the UV template very closely to make it fit. Hand selecting each feather on the T-map and using the fractal as a fill might work too. No, please don't distribute MT's..it has to do with the embedded thing I mentioned before. It's too easy to rebuild the model from the MTs. If you send me the MTs maybe I can figure a way around it. -JH.

Jeff, Ok, I'll try that. I have Painter 6, which is pretty good for that sort of thing. Anyway, I just came up with a texture I like alot more anyway, because it "fits" better, and I prefer the colors. No problem about the MT's... I only have a couple anyway, and they're pretty subtle. I'm working on making some more, and I will send them to you to see what you think. Thanks again, Mike

Are the wings poseable? I found some free wings at a Fortune City site that have 3 'joints' for posing & I love them, but I wouldn't mind paying for a nice second set if they can be worked with a bit more. :) If ya wanna see what I played with and made here are some link (different angles). I had to blur certain areas ;) because of the provider's guidelines tho - plus I'm trying to figure out a problem I've been having with 'dressed' figures exporting to Bryce. :) http://www.angelcities.com/members/lucyfur/images/Syn_ful/Angel0.jpg http://www.angelcities.com/members/lucyfur/images/Syn_ful/Angel1.jpg http://www.angelcities.com/members/lucyfur/images/Syn_ful/Angel2.jpg http://www.angelcities.com/members/lucyfur/images/Syn_ful/Angel3.jpg

The wings are posable, but they don't bend like Phil's wings. I change the shape of them with Morph Targets. There's an animation of the wings in action on the features page: http://members.bellatlantic.net/~howarths/wingfeatr.html

Hiya, LucyFur, Yes, the wings are poseable. They work VERY well, and I have not once regretted getting them. :) I know about the wings you mention here-- I have them too, but I think Jeff's are much more suited towards angel wings. Cheers, Mike Thanks for the pics. :)
