Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 12 9:36 pm)
Leave your Geometries and texture folders alone. You CAN rename character/figure, props, hair, lights and camers to you hearts content. Disadavantage of doing so, installing a product from a merchant you have that may put stuff in the original folder. Then you have to find it and move/rename.
I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

O.K. folks, I know Im a newbie, but it seems like there is no folder naming convention for Poser products. For example, I buy some V3 clothes and install them. They could go under the Figure Tab, or the Props Tab, or the Pose Tab or even under all three Tabs. And there may be additional items deposited in the Camera and Lights Tabs. What is even more confusing is that the name of the folders may have absolutely nothing to do with the actual item itself. So as you go scrolling down the long list in Poser looking for your item, you cant even recognize its folder when you see it! In addition, a single product may generate different folder names under each Poser Tab. So you cant even recognize accompanying MAT, pose, prop, lighting, or camera files.
What I really want to know is this: Which folders can I rename so they actually indicate what is inside and which ones do I have to leave alone because renaming them will cause something not to work? I know I have to leave the DAZ morph folders alone, but what about all the others? If I buy a V3 Gown 47, can I name the matching files something like MATs for V3 Gown 47, or Props for V3 Gown 47, etc? That would seem to make life much easier.
If any of you have come up with a solution for this short of memorizing everything in your library or a naming convention that has worked for you, please share it with the rest of us. I know we all would be eternally grateful. Thank you.
