SR2 adds extra morph channels to V3's head. There weren't enough for all the head morphs included in the International Beauties package.
You probably don't need it if you're not planning to get the IB package.
I kind of doubt there will be major SRs for V3 at this point. They're probably working on V4 instead.
Also FYI, the service release doesn't modify your existing V3 cr2 file in any way, but merely gives you an extra cr2 Victoria 3 sr2.cr2 which as you rightly say is compatible with the injection of the ethnicity morph targets from the IB pack. The extra cr2 is only 1.4 megs, and there are no other changes from the service release.

How important is Service Release 2 for Victoria3? In what manner does it make changes? The DAZ blurb for it says that it modifies the cr2 to be compatible with the 'International Beauties Morphs'. This doesn't tell me anything beyond that. I don't have that product, and the easy conclusion is that I don't need sr2. But I don't know from the DAZ info if sr2 is now going to be the new standard upon which all future V3 development is based. Normal program naming convention tells me that a service release (patch) should be installed by default, and with some urgency. But the previous service release necessitated that I had to basically start from scratch, since all my 'characters' were out of date as far as amendments and future development went. That was liveable with, since the previous patch provided substantial all-round benefits. So I'm sat here wondering if I need to go through the whole update process again. If anyone can shed light on the importance and operation of this patch, I'd appreciate their feedback.
