Nice composition. Water mat is perfect. Is the city a 2d pic or individual objects? Either way, looks good. The only thing that seems to be a little off to me is the clouds. Would they be that bright when it's dark enough to see the city lights? I'm not a city boy so I don't know...maybe the lights of the city will reach that high. Anyhow, I'd still call this 95+% done.

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

Nice work.

But when I look at the small boat in the forground and compare it withe the one in the background (the right one with the tires) it seems that the tires are way to large. Probably you have to adjust the size of the boats so that they fit together.

i think it looks great. but personaly, i would knock back the ambience a bit on everything. not contrasty enough. though that might make sillouettes of the closest boats since there wouldnt be much of a light source out there anyways. great comp though. (:

Right on man !!! :) Negativity sux ! :) Hehe :) Beautiful peace of ART you got there (((VOTE))), ooops, sorry, this is only WIP, and we are actually in forum, lol !!! :) Anyways, looks like ambience on your ship is little bit to high, water is quite excellent, and I think, maybe you should darken that city image a bit in the background. Also, but im not sure about this one, more stars and less visible clouds might improve your sky !!! :)

Hey that's a good looking junk ya got there!! The skyline looks great. Is it a photograph? The smaller sampans are good looking too.

I really like it Kiwi gg! Also reminds me of night cruising in Hong Kong harbor. As far as the clouds- I often see city lights reflecting a reddish glow off of clouds at night.

I don't like the sky itself...something about it just doesn't look right...it doesn't seem characteristic of the sky above a city...i don't know what it is.

i like it too. nice atmo i only think the sails are a bit too bright add some transparency too them to darken them and let some light true or do a gradiant on them.

for some free stuff i made
and for almost daily fotos

Thanks heaps for the input folks I really appreciate that sort of feedback.

Derjimi; had a good look at what you thought were tyres, they apear to be just bumps in the water.(see s_shot)Can be overcome by just moving that sampan a bit.

Groingrinder; The skyline is a mix of 3ds models and 2d photographs of city lights placed in front.

Danamo;Cruising on Hong Kong harbour,I'm green with envy. The fact is that the lights on the right of the pic are Hong Kong, the left side is Chicago I think.

Slakker; tried several variations of the sky but did'nt like them as much as this one.

Thanks once again to you all. Off to experiment some more.

Cheers 8)

The sampan has to be larger in my opinion. I've added a screenie. :-)

Ah ha now I see where you're at,thats a small fishing boat that I added to give some of the variety of vessels that you would find in such a setting. I tried to keep the sampan( at bottom of arrow))relative in scale to the central junk and the 2 sampans at it's stern.

here is an ammended version. The whole image has been softened, the really bright building has been toned down and the "tyres"??? have been removed.

Do you think it is better???????

Ummm, now where did I leave that beer, damn i hate that!!!!

the backgroud city come out really well, but I think there's to much light contrast wit hthe ship in the foreground and the other objects (like others said). Mayve try to add a couple of lights on the ship so it has more volume and you can reduce its ambience. I'd also change a bit the camera angle lowering the camera near the sea, but that only personal taste. vasq

Is the water a plane or terrain, I believe it's a plane and would look better as a terrain, it would reduce the regularity as you get close to the waterline by the buildings in front of the main Junk. The other onsideration might be to render at higher rays per pixel. Also some of the buildings on the right hand side look a little too similar, maybe alter the texture on one or two of them? Have you considered a more panoramic presentation, say 16x9 or similar to give that 'photo/poster' feeling? Now I've been critical, I'll say I think it's a fantastic image as is, but could be truly phenomenal.
