Subject: Help on runtime(s)

I have Poser 5 and my Runtime is 10,6GB... I think it is time I split that folder. Could someone explain to me, step-by-step, how to do that, please? Thanks. France

Hi France No problem. Have a look in your poser directory and you will notice you have a download directory. If you're like everyone else in the world you won't have put anything in there. Copy this folder, including it's subdirectory into the Poser 5 directory (It should rename itself as "Copy of Downloads". OK now rename it to whatever you like. ie. Clothes Now if you've already got all the clothes in one place in your library just cut and paste from one diretory to another. ie. From "RuntimeCharacterClothing" to "ClothingCharacterClothing". Any prop clothes from one prop folder to your new prop folder, etc. Now load poser and in the Library window keep ascending up the folder structure until you reach Poser 5 with a red dot. At the bottom now you should see a plus sign (Add new runtime folder). Click on the plus sign and browse to your "Clothes" folder. Click ok and now you've got a standard Poser 5 runtime and a clothes runtime. That's it. Have fun NeilP

Thanks Neil. Would it be the same procedure to create a different runtime for different models, like one runtime for Sara, one for Victoria 2&3, Koshini, etc.? France

It's the same procedure for every runtime you like to create. You may as well create an empty folder "Sara" within your Poser 5 directory, then add this folder as a new runtime from within Poser. Poser will automatically create the necessary folder structure :-) Now you can start moving all your Sara stuff.

Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Poser will load faster on an empty runtime. I always open with the download runtime cause there is nothing in it. It took about half an hour to load with the Girl runtime open! France, I have a runtime for each of my characters too. I love how easy it is to find the stuff that goes with that character! Kristta

What do you do to have Poser open with the downloads runtime? Just make sure you're in it when you quit? France

Yes, just make sure you are in the downloads runtime when you exit out of Poser. Kristta

Unfortunately, I'm one of the few (if not the only one) who used his downloads folder to store things I downloaded for Poser and I'm not sure what the original structure was supposed to look like. Which subfolders should any new Runtime folder have?
