Well, I threw this together using some of my new industrial textures and I wanted some input on;

-the image in general

-the textures

-anything you might spot or like, or not, you know the usual....

This is for my new texture pack in the RMP, and some sample freebies.....

Thanks,
Zhann

I like the mats... a lot! They look great. For my taste, a slight soft shadows would help and some haze/smoky look would really add to the dank feel. Just my $0.02 Cool start.

Overall I like the image, couple small things, if the sink is that stained it would probably be a little more gray base color. The faucets look stark black, yet that may be my monitor. Beautiful Texture work, although I think you spent too much time hangin out at that pump station. ;) Just kidding Jan.

OK, now be honest, you broke into my house and photographed my bathroom. Textures look great to me. I was a little confused for a second since I thought this was an interior shot, but guess it's outside?

What this needs is the shadow of the creature from the movie ALIEN....... Great scene, great textures, great artist!

The grimy sink is excellent !

it's really good, but i'm not so sure about the lighting, and it's not because of the lighting itself as the shadows on the ground. for some reason they just look dodgy (probably the scale of the ground texture). as well, those oil slicks look too high (metaballs i imagine) from the ground. great work though :)

danamo ( ) posted Wed, 18 August 2004 at 10:18 PM

I really like your textures! They look very detailed and seem to map nicely at the scale you're working at. It struck me that this may be the interior view of an abandoned plant, and that theres a big hole in the roof that they cut to remove machinery. You see that in a lot of actual photographs of such places. Many of these places also have huge gaping holes in the floors too. Oh, and I love the old "washcloth", that's an excellent detail!

Outdoors or indoors? If outdoors, then the lighting is about right. Lighting is too bright, wrong temperature light, if scene is indoors.

Didn't you know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That's why eyedrops and rose-colored glasses are needed.

This is classic American Industrial. Looks like 70 percent of the factories I have been in, except for the sink which is a little too clean. The links on the chain should be slightly longer too. I LOVE IT!

Yes, those mats are killer. If this was my pic, I'd put in a light dome, or maybe some visible light rays coming from the right.

Okay, it's indoors, loosely taken from a factory photo, in a ghost town hereabouts, where part of the supporting wall had collapsed pretty much leaving it open to outside, the water wall and conduit walls were the only ones standing...although the wall was mostly windows, big high windows 15ftrs, almost all the glass was broken out....great arching structures, which may be why the shadows on the floor look weird.....I'll see what I can do

The floor texture was a fluke, no metaballs at all! I upped the bump and cranked it negative, and enlarged the texture by negative, and voila, large water/oil puddles, weird actually...going to reduce(?) the bump some on that...

I need instructions for hazy light, as I don't do much of that kind of lighting, thought I'd try it and see how it looks....but the image 'is' to show off the textures in the pack, so I don't want to interfere with that...

All your suggestions are great, I like the gapping hole in the floor idea!....and I need to practice my lighting definitley... Gawd I wish there was a spell checker, thank goodness for the edit...

The textures are superb! I particularly like the slightly shiny pipe to the left. The floor is my least favourite, it looks too even, somehow. And I've never seen an oily rag that clean lol.

I couldn't add a thing to what the others have said...just wanted to say ,these are a killer set of textures and should do well in the MP!...one thing is driving me mad though..where the hell is the oily rag/wash cloth!

great textures and modeling. when i visited thosekind of greasy work places i always saw some pinups on the wall add a faded one above the sink as human touch to all the technical stuff. lol @ drawbridge

for some free stuff i made
and for almost daily fotos
