Does the HyperVue Network/Rendercow setup work at all. I installed it on Vue 4.22 and am able to detect the Vue 4 Rendercows but when I start to render all I see for status is Sending Environment....it never changes. I installed it on Vue 4 Pro 4.53-02 but all I get when I start the Rendercows is a windows dialog that states: "The Program has generated errors and must be shutdown. The program must be restarted." I have contacted e-on about it but they have not yet replied...to be honest they probably have not yet had a change to as yet. Is anyone else having my problem? Fillingim

You are running the beta patch? (Build 270996)

try a basic scene with high render settings and resolution with only 2 cows. Try to find out if any of the cows work better then any of the others. It should work. It does for me on moderately complex scenes.

Running Norton Internet Security, perchance? This is a very intrusive program, and interferes with the RenderCow function even it you tell it not to. Also, what OS and version are you using? There are a couple of MS dll's that have to be updated (or installed to begin with) to the latest version before the Cow's will behave. I get all the needed files when I install Visual C++6 (the release version), so that is the cluster of files you need to check into; the VC++ runtime should do the job. On VuePro, have the ProCows been updated? That is the first thing that should occur when a Cow is contacted, and there has been a version upgrade in VuePro (you would get the update bar window on the Cow computer desktop). The Cows are nothing more than the actual render engine with a TCP-IP front end instead of a GUI; if the engine version numbers do not match, you will either get a lockup of the Cow, requiring a shutdown, or an error state that causes VuePro to CTD.

No Vue 4 Pro cows run...all give me the same message about errors.

I am running W2K Pro...no firewalls...and after reinstalling I went back to version 4.53....4.54 (Build 270996) caused Vue 4 Pro to stop running altogether.

I finally got the Vue4 Standard cows to work...but the Vue 4 Pro cows don't work at all as far as I can tell. I updated all dlls as well

Aye...the update gives me the same problems

I'm not positive but my machine runs better without having vue 4 and its cows. I run only vuepro and its cows. On simple scenes the cows behave on cue. I also manually assign ip's and give each cow a separate port #

Hmm. Okay, next step. How big is your scene, what's in it, and how much system RAM do you have? VuePro has more hooks into the actual OS than Vue does, and the HyperVue Network Manager is -very- sensitive to the resources it has. It is also touchy regarding packet collision; a very large Vue or VupPro scene, or one with a poly heavy PZ-3 imported (particularly if the Poser people are using the very large, photorealistic textures) can blow things up. Have you tried not allowing VuePro to detect the Cows? Clear the HyperVue window of all the entries, shut down VuePro, restart, start a HyperVue render, and then add one and only one Cow. If it starts, wait until it is past the passing any information to the Cow and is rendering frame ), then add the next Cow (I have my garden's computers dubbed things like betsy, bossy, elsie, and rose, so it's easy to add them with their names). If you have something like cacheman, that will let you monitor how much available RAM you have from the system tray, keep an eye on that as you add Cows. Each running Cow claims a portion of system memory, so 5 Cows running can keep a noticeable portion of your memory occupied.

(Smacks forehead) Oh, bloody hell. Did you install the ProCows off the release version of the VuePro CD? If so, that's your problem. The ProCows on the release run were busted, broken, bad juju. Someone put an earlier build of the ProCow on the gold master, instead of the proper one. They simply didn't work, nor would they auto-update. Look in your VuePro folder for the RenderCow update executable, copy it to flash drive or CD (I think it's too big for floppy), and manually update the Cows one at a time (if there's one on your main system, then click on it and update that Cow, then test and see if that solves your problem). Once they are updated to a working build, they -should- be fine.

My systems are: dual 733 MHz PIII 1 Gigabyte of Ram each Geforce 4 MX boards or better The scene is very simple...just a ball moving around some. Yes I did install off of the cd-rom but I do not see a rendercow update executable (in my Vur Pro folder on my main unit)...is it on the cd-rom...I will check. Thanks ;) It seemed appropriate.... It doesn't seem to be on mine anymore, either. Go to the E-on site, support, VuePro upgrades. Just below the boxes that lists the latest update is a link to take you to a page that has the previous updates. About halfway down the list is a stand alone RenderCow installer (about 7.7megs) that has the correct files in it.
