It allows you to quickly enable/disable the collision feature in P5, which, depending upon your settings, either prevents objects from passing through one another, or highlights the intersections when objects do collide.

You'll still have to select specific objects, however, and enable their collision flag so that Poser knows what can and can't collide.

Note: this does nothing for pokethrough with conforming clothing.

OK...so I selected the hip of my figure (V3), checked Collision Detection, hit Apply to Chidren. I checked Collision Detection on my prop (Rubio's V Sheet, which I made into a solid prop for creating a dynamic cloth). Then I hit Show Intersections...EVERYTING goes black, even where I KNOW is intersecting. What am I missin' here?

I don't know if that'll work with cloth simulations. It may only function on figures and regular props. I'm rendering a rather lengthy animation at the moment, and can't stop to check.

Admittedly, I've rarely used Poser's collision detection, so I may be completely wrong. I prefer to position things by eye, myself.

The cloth room uses its own collision detection, incidentally.
