Subject: memories oh memories

Attached Link: (My first) REALLY lame video

OK here is an animation I created with bryce forever ago. Please keep laughter to a minimum :). Well, actually it is 2 scenes created in bryce that were spliced together. Does anyone have any suggestions for reducing the file size? Should I change to another codec or another format? What tools will I need for changing it?

The video is done in avi format with the Cinepak Codec at 15 fps (discovered a week after making about how to change the fps, doh). Unfortunately, I am unable to rerender the scene because the computer it was on crashed, losing everything, and the disc I had it backed up on was corrupt (I tested the disc and even got some stuff off of it but the file was messed up in the save process I guess).

WARNING: The file is almost 10 MB in the current form and could take a minute if you decide to view it, not necessary for question thou if you do not want to seriously waste your time with watching a lame video. If you want to see it anyways, on the link click the picture on the left, yes the one with the yellow mountains and flying heart.

Any help would be appreciated. As always thanks. :)

avi's are huge, you need the divx encoder, but i would suggest exporting it out of bryce as an avi and then using divx5 to encode them

I use Microsoft Movie maker to take the AVI and created a WMV which is tiny. But does mean MAC users have a harder time seeing it. Or there's a utility out there (can't remember the name sorry) that converts AVI to MPG and that cuts it down by about 90%.

The free utility is TMPEG Encoder.

I use the Flash Image Builder from this site, it makes the animation pretty small...

Attached Link: new divx version

Alright, I reworked the video and here are the results: Original: 9.46 MB AS MPG: 5.87 MB AS DIVX: 3.86 MB Conversion to MPG is: 38% reduction Conversion to DIVX is: 59% reduction Video is 35 secs duration at 15 fps The quality on both videos is about the same as original. Therefore, DIVX is best for this particular video. Attempted to manually code divx but the video ended up upside-down and in mirror image. Still have yet to figure that one out but it was smaller and of good quality. Thanks for helpful suggestions from all. It is the third pic/link on the attached link. Both original and divx version are on there if anyone is interested. talk more later work time now bye bye
