Hmm you're right. I get a german site even if I click "buy". Seems it reads your ISO from your browser and sees that you're not american.. And apparently it's only for sale in the US :o( Great. They could at least SAY SO on the front page. Besides... WHY?! Oh well, we can hope for ebay...

It might be a matter of language. Perhaps they want to make a European version.
I seem to recall that people using the German version of Poser had to wait for SR 4 - when first released, it was English only.
I suspect there are pricing issues, too. I dunno if it's because of tax laws or what, but software is often more expensive in the U.K.
You know.. last I heard, the brits spoke english ;o) And as for German versions I couldn't care less. I don't want my computer sppeaking german to me (no offense) Nah most likely they're gonna repeat the "double price" stunt. Guess it's time to dig up your american relatives again :o)

I think it's a matter of distribution rights. They want to finilize the agreements with European distributors before they sell it themselves to Europeans (and compete with these distributors). As with Poser, it will probably mean that they agree not to undercut the distributors price = we in Europe has to pay a higher price even if we download directly from CL...
CL stated in another thread - maybe the one that got shoved into the Product Showcase where no one ever looks for it (thanks mods) - that there will be a european version soon. Besides that they are working on a complete new store that will allow everyone to buy from CL directly.

Ok, it wasn't in a thread it's in the CL newsletter: "SHADE 7 ENGLISH AVAILABLE NOW! Were very excited to offer the renowned Shade product, NOW in English! Currently available in North America only, with global availability coming VERY SOON! All New Curious Labs Web Store Coming Soon! The new Curious Labs website was just the beginning. We are excited to announce that we are in the process of putting the finishing touches on a brand new Web Store, which will be launching very soon. "Besides that they are working on a complete new store that will allow everyone to buy from CL directly." That was possible before as well, the only difference is that there is a higher price for Europeans residents since CL has agreed with their Euroean distributors not to compete with their prices. I'm pretty sure that will apply in the new store as well.
Shade is the signature program produced by Curious Labs' new owner. Popular in Japan, nearly unknown here. But there's a new English version out.
It can do some pretty cool stuff. And there's a nice discount for Poser users. $49 for the LE version, $149 for the Standard, and something like $700 for the pro version.
Is Shade meant to eventually replace poser? Im still not 100% certain of the relation of all the applications I hear of here regularly. Poser just renders, whereas 3DSMax models and is used primarilly to create the people and items rendered in poser, and Lightwave and Maya model chars & objects AND renders them as well, right? Where does Shade fit in? Ive gone to curios labs and read about the LE and Standard and Professional versions. It sorta seems like its more like Maya and Lightwave and does both models and renders? Is it designed to handle light and shadows in a way superior to Lightwave and Maya? What is its primary offering? Dying to know more :) Thanks, Logan
