Subject: Looking for free or buy-able Fantasy armor-type clothing, please help.

I need (conforming) clothing that I can use for some Poser characters. I need armor type for both men and women. But they have to have NO flowing parts. No skirts, baggy areas, etc. as this will be animated and I don't want to get into cloth simulation. The type I want is for them to look like they stepped out of a RPG type video game. Armor, but not like 'steel' armor or something. Does this make sense? I need to put it on a teenage figure (I should be able to scale it right), and I want his face to be visible. Long sleeves, etc. is fine, but no shirtless things. If you could please please give me a link where I can download or buy them, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

You're going to have a harder time finding masculine armor. It would help if we knew what figure(s) you're using, too. For female armor (v3), check out the free stuff from Awful Soul, as well as RDNA's free section for an assortment of characters. Rummage through the free section here. Look for things that could be retextured (with proper credit, of course).

I can only echo roan crisps post - Awful Soul & RDNA. RDNA in particular probably has the biggest selection of high quality, free and for sale armour-type clothing such as you mention. ali x

You can try DAZ's HighFantasy Pack (clothes, but with the textures you can simulate some kind of light leather armor, perfect for ranger characters) or RDNA's Armor for M3/Freak/V3 and the wonderful texture set by Jon Mallis (Knights Extraordinarie). Good Luck in your quest.

I'm not sure which male character I'll be using yet, but it'll have to be a teenage boy. I heard that Mike's armor would fit him, if you just scale it a little.

You could start with a body texture that provides the chain mail basis -- this is an easily accomplished thing that you can find resource materials for all over Poserdom. From there, I'd recommend going into the Renderosity freestuff and looking for something called "P4Male Armour". It's a series of props for the legs, arms, and chest, in a style that's vaguely fantasy and vaguely sci-fi. Because they're all props, you can easily rescale them and reparent them to whatever figure you're using.

Damn, it seems to be gone. But I know it's still available, because I saw it on a web site just a month ago (It's been around for a few years, so a month either way isn't much to worry about, I think). I'll look in my files and see what's there that might help tracking it down.

Okay, found them on my CDs. They were by Lourdes. And I think she pulled her stuff, if memory serves properly? But the concept is an easy one to implement. Take any armour set that's in pieces (arms, forearms, chest, and so on) and export the pieces one at a time by using the hierarchy window to turn off everything but the piece you want to export. Send them out as obj files, then import them back in as smart props. Depending on what character you came from and go to, you'll have to no doubt do some rescaling, but it'll work like a charm when you're all done. I've used this on Ichiro with a variety of armour pieces for the P4 male and security props for the GIRL, and in both cases, I had pretty much no problem with the translations.
