Subject: Poser 4 Pro Pack display problem....

Hiya. I just set up a RAID 0 (striping withoout parity) using two identical Western Digital 80 GB SATA hard drives, and reinstalled Win 2K Pro in a dual boot with XP Pro. Under both 2K and XP, Poser 4 ProPack ran just fine, then all of a sudden, when under Win 2K, Poser just refused to give me a display. Just a white "stage", and nothing to be seen, though Poser claimed the proper figure was there. Uninstalling/reinstalling/uninstalling/reinstalling...nothing worked to change the problem, and I wiped EVERYTHING Poser from my HD, including in the registry in my C drive where 2K lives, all to no effect. It still runs just fine under XP, and I'm using the same installation folder as I did under 2K. Like I said, it ran just fine under both OS's, until suddenly it went bad. Anyone seen this sort of thing or know what to do about it? I thought maybe the RAID thing might have something to do with it, but ALL my other programs are just peachy under each OS. Just Poser having troubles. As usual. Thanks much if anyone has any suggestions. :)

Could it be an issue with how your display adapter (geaphics card) is set up under 2k?

I doubt it, but that was the first thing I suspected. I've been running PPP under Win 2K Pro, Win XP Pro, and even Win 98 SE, for a good while niw, with the same video card (GeForce FX 5700, 256MB video RAM), with no problems, and like I said, all my other programs were OK. Anyhow, it seems to have been something in Win 2K that got corrupted, because reloading the OS solved the problem. Strange that it only affected Poser, though, although it might not be such a good idea for me to be running from my Win 2K partition while booted in XP, since it was installed under Win 2K. But I would think that if Poser itself had become corrupted, reinstalling would fix it. shrug Probably just a coincidence though, caused by some kind of Microsquish hiccup, as all is well again. Windows funny sometimes.

Glad you got it sorted. Les.
