I had the same problem with Norton's, I uninstalled it and am now using Trend Micro internet security and the render problem appears rectified. I have still got the problem with the progress bar at the bottom of the page always displaying '1 item remaining' but ONLY in the gallery, when I'm in the matketplace this problem does not occur?
I too have the "1 item remaining" going on the forum (at this minute). And I don't have ANY AV installed on my PC (that's all done via my router box, which is between me and the outside world, is set up not to let ANY unauthorised stuff through, and cannot be corrupted from the "outside" 'cos it's in ROM, not RAM). I only noticed this recently; it may have been happening forever, but I doubt it. As said above: wierd. Cheers, Diolma
Thanks for answering.May be there are two different problems .One is coming with antivirus. But i don't understand why now because I used Norton AV before without problem.May be the new software technology for the worm virus.I am curius to see if someone else with Norton AV 2005 encounter the same.Sure i can buy another antivirus but i just bought Norton System Works Premiere last Friday(149 Can$)And the other problem about ''i item remaining'' could be related to Renderosity itself.A suivre!
From what I've read in some other threads here, the "1 item remaining" seems to be due to a flash item in the side-bar. If you don't have the relevant version of flash installed/enabled, that's apparantly what you get. There's also a flash-blocker available somewhere, but I've lost track of the thread(s) that specified where. Cheers, Diolma
Ouch, everyone should have an antivirus program and firewall installed. I don't think the average router is 100% guarantee against unwanted invasions or viruses. Besides, in my experience, the viruses I have received mostly came from "trusted sources," such as friends, and once from a computer repair shop, of all places!
Bobbie: My router IS also a firewall. I used it for 12 months with Zone Alarm, Norton's AV and AdAware(?) on my PC and the router between me and the outside world. Before I had the router, I used to get frequent complaints from ZA about "attempts to access BiosNet" (among others). Very little from the other stuff. After I installed the router, the only complaints came from ZA, asking me "did I wish to allow xyz to access the internet" (where xyz was either the Windoze basic net stuff (after I'd plugged the cable back in - I always disconnect from the net before shutting down), or from Poser. Otherwise, no complaints whatsoever. The Router has a built-in firewall. It's safer than any possible software firewall 'cos it can't be corrupted from the outside. The software in the router (and that's only the data that the software uses, not the software itself) can ONLY be changed from the "user" side, which is me. Plus I NEVER open any e-mails where I don't recognise the sender and I NEVER download any files from sites that I don't know are trustworthy. As for "Trusted friends" - well, I only have 2, and they're as paranoid as I am:-))) LOL and Cheers, Diolma
OK, most of us have routers that have firewalls. And many people still suggest having antivirus and firewall software. You can do what you feel is safe. But you're putting lots of faith in one area that is not known to be infallible. I just hope you don't have any troubles. As for Zone Alarm, I killed that years ago because it was not smart enough to know friend from foe. It thought my ISP's email server was an invader. I've sworn by Symantec products since 1995, and they have not failed me.

I just bought Norton systemworks 2005 with its antivirus 2005.Just lets defaut configuration.I use Poser 5 with sr4.1 recently reinstalled. Before i had Norton antivirus 2003 installed with current virus definition:no problem with Poser 5.Today with the new one, during some long rendering Norton antivirus alarm me about something try to remote my computer. The rendering seems stop(never finish even after many hours) but Windows still say Poser is still running(with contol+alt+delete task) I thought it was worm protection and i have permitted to Poser to access using option in Norton panel.Same problem. Others application seems ok for now .Another sign: when i am on Renderosity, the progressive bar at the botton always saying ''1 item remaining opening page httpp www.renderosity etc'' but everything seems loaded. So i must do something about it but i don't know what.Any suggestion!Ok i can desinstall my antivirus but i would pefer another solution. Thanks
