Subject: Vue 5 Cel (Anime) Shader Challenge

We can create beautiful, Miyazaki-esque landscapes in Vue but we can't create anime-style characters yet. I'll be ordering Vue 5 shortly, and one thing I'm hoping to be able to accomplish is a custom shader using the new Function Graph Editor that does what LightWave plugins like BESM ("Big Eyes, Small Mouth") and particularly the Japanese Unreal plugin (http://webclub.kcom.ne.jp/mb/dhm/) do - which is to facilitate an anime cel-shaded look. Anyone with ideas or who is also up to finding a way to do this let me know!

Good luck! I think this is a great idea and would love to see an Anime shader for Vue 5.

BTW- what would also be really NICE is a good FLAT CAMERA effect for Vue 5- which does what Z-Toon does in Poser. There's also a Python script for this for Poser Pro-Pack and P5 that automatically sets all views to approx 90% flat. Vue 5 doesn't use Python, but Vue Pro apparently does, so if someone could create a Z-Toon Python script for Vue Pro and a Cel-Shader for Vue, we could REALLY be in the Anime business with Vue! There is HUGE interest in Anime Cel-Shade looks- so I think it should be a priority at E-On to help get something like this out.

Yeah, I would love to see this as well, as I've had great fun playing around with cel-shading effects in Poser 5 (that is, playing around with anime-esque cel-shaders others have made for Poser, I'm not skilled enough to make them myself).

mandimoore, if you have Poser 5 or know someone who does, I'd suggest looking at the several anime shaders available for it, as the material functions for Vue 5 are apparently very similar to Poser 5's (I've heard people saying they're similar but haven't dug into Vue 5's functions yet).

For instance, look at Anime Compiler's materials (I believe he posted them on the Poser forums here at Renderosity), and the ToonPack materials ( http://market.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=29666 )

And good luck!
