Subject: distortion maps

In trying to fit a photo to a texture map, I've wondered if there isn't a distortion file anybody had developed for helping with this. In PSP, at least, you can distort an image with a distortion map file, but I know little about them so far. But I'm guessing that one that is no too unlike an egg or at least large sphere might help with some of the texture making. Any ideas? Thanks.

In some versions of Photoshop (and maybe PSP) there is a "Filter" menu. One of the submenus is "Distort", and one of the filters in that submenu is "Polar Coordinates". It remaps a rectangular image to fit on a hemisphere.

Thanks. I had forgotten that.
