I found this wonderful birthday gift from Cooler over at 3DCommune Freestuff today. He's giving it to US, but it's HIS birthday... Here's what's in the Readme.txt: History: The Zenith transoceanic was produced from the 1920's through the 1980's. The model here is an H500, and reportedly had the largest production numbers of any transoceanic. It was introduced in 1951 at a cost of $124.25. The reason I made this model is because it was *my* 1st radio, a gift from my father in 1959. I later found out that it was the 1st thing he & my mother had purchased after they were married in 1951. ****************************************************** My addendum- It is AMAZING that Cooler made this as I have been HOPING that someone would make this radio for Poser (or 3D). My own family history is very close to Cooler's description. As a kid my folks bought this EXACT same radio in the mid 1950's and it was a CENTERPIECE in our home for many years as we did not own even a black and white TV then. (We weren't poor- TV's were still rare then.) As I grew older, and being a natural techno-geek, I got to keep this radio in my own room- after we bought a new Zenith B&W TV in 1960. Listen folks, before there was the internet, there was International Short-Wave radio- and with this radio you could not only listen to AM radio (FM was still rare then) but you could tune in the BBC World Broadcast, Radio Delhi, Radio Free Europe, and even the COMMIES- Radio Moscow!! Plus- you could listen to civilian radio, police and aircraft transmissions, and much more. It was a TRIP!!! RADIO was a GREAT THING. You used your IMAGINATION as you listened. I think a lot of younger people don't get that experience anymore (especially with the CRAP that passes for "radio" these days.) I know MOST of you DON'T understand... oh-well... Thanks for the COOL Zenith Transoceanic radio COOLER!

Ooooh! What detail. I owned one of these in the '60s, and this definitely brings back memories. The model's interior is perfect, down to the bandswitch trimmer coils and the dial cord. Can almost smell that wonderful hot bakelite, and hear Radio Moscow's unmistakable overmodulation..... Zenith built some fantastic radios in the late '30s, with elegant mechanisms, perfect sound, beautiful inlaid cabinets, and plenty of little hidden controls and plugs.

Happy Birthday, Cooler ... and thank you for the kind gift :) Veritas777, like you I was a shortwave radio nut in my youth and was a member of umpteen DX Clubs. I used to listen to VOA, RCI, Deutsche Welle etc.etc. I still have a sizable collection of QSL Cards. Even more recently, I had a SW Receiver that I could fit in my pocket but it stopped working... then along came Poser.

Hippy bird-day, Big "D" ! Huge thanks for all your expert advice, your participation at the various sites, and of course your incredible generosity with your cool models. For those who don't know, cooler has "rescued" the Poser newsgroup Model Challenge countless times, just one of the things about him that keeps his screen name honest. :-)
