Loaded my Vue4Pro oillamp into Vue5. The alphaplane don't look as it should in Vue5. Is it the importer och the alphaplane?

When open a file dialog it I Vue5 expects me to use an English keyboard layout and I'm using a Swedish.

Can anyone confirm those problems.

In case anyone want the lamp you can get the Vue4Pro object file by following the link.

Did a new test. Removed the glass in order to get a clearer view and created another alphaplane inside Vue5 and put it beside (the one to the left ).

You can see that it behaves differently both in preview and on render.

Still, the alphaplane settings are the same and as far as I can se so are the other settings.

Any ideas?

I'll confirm the alpha plane problem. Also been opening Vue4Pro files in Vue5 today. So far the alpha plane is the only problem I noticed. Too busy experimenting with the lighting options, so haven't looked for a solution yet. Doesn't Vue5 handle image maps differently? I use those alpha planes a lot, so will also experiment on that tomorrow.

You should report this bug with full details and photographs at E-on's website support forum as soon as possible.

Will do that when I get home from work as I now has confirmation on it. Can anyone confirm the keyboard problem?

Just to mention this, Vue 5 now maps alpha planes differently than they way it mapped them in Vue 4 and Pro. The first thing you should try is changing the mapping to object: parametric, this is the new setting for alpha plane objects. The second thing you need to try is playing with the scale, I found when doing the beta testing that old scenes especially when it came to textures do not transfer well from Vue 4 up to Vue 5, which isn't really all that surprising since the same thing happened when people upgraded to Vue 4 from Vue 3. At any rate, this appears to be the most likely case as you will usually notice a tiling effect on the alpha plane. The thing about this problem is that it was actually a bug with Vue 4, not Vue 5, they've simply fixed the way alphas are mapped for Vue 5. So...play with the scale and try different mapping options and you should be able to fix the alpha plane. Hope this helps.

If Vue5 is supposed to import Vue4Pro models then it should import correctly whatever the reason is.

The keyboard problem is no longer a problem (after a reboot).

It works if I set it to object parametic. So if the intention is that this is the way alphaplanes should be setup in Vue5 then all they have to do is to set the mapping to parametic when loading Vue4 alphaplanes and the bug is gone :)

Switching to parametric solves the problem for me, too. Thought it had something to do with a new mapping style. Thanks for the info, nanotyrannus. I'm just glad I don't really need to use my Vue4pro files in Vue5. Some have as many as 100 alpha planes. Just using those files as a quick way to test new features.

Hey, glad you guys cleared this up, cause I was just going to say, they still have a problem with alpha planes??? But yeah, Igotta try parametric with my old alphas that didn't work too well because of atmosphere...
