Subject: PNG/RSR/Pose/Mat Mystery

Ok, I've mostly kinda/sorta figure out how to use MAT Pose Edit 3...I've made 91x91 .pct and .png's of my rendered figures...I've gone into MPE and done the PNG to RSR conversion thingie...now how the heck do I get the bloody png to show up in the folder and let me click on it to load the MAT? I don't really want to have to go to wordpad and open up the code on anything and I can't find the RSR converter in freebies (link seems to be dead). I have no cash to buy any toy, so what's the easiest next step, please, O Guru's of Poserdome?

How about a little background? What version of Poser are you using? Is it for an IBM computer or Macintosh? What other graphics programs do you have, such as Adobe PhotoShop?

By the way, MAT Pose Edit does no create thumbnails. You'd get the "shrugging guy" that indicates you have no thumbnail. P3DO Explorer can be used for some of this stuff, although I usually only use it as a file viewer.

Here's a quick & good way to do thumbs in Poser 5:

1.) Setup the scene or character the way you want.
2.) Resize your working screen to 91X91 Pixels (I use a UI dot for this)
3.) Render image
4.) Save as PNG to the proper library. You may want to make backups first. You may be replacing an old PNG file.
5.) Get rid of any rsr files that may not match your PNG file.

You're done.

Ok, sorry.. Poser 5 Windows XP Pro Compaq Presario 2100 Laptop AMD Processor Now, I've got a .png in the folder but it doesn't show up when I open the folder. All I get is the shrugging guy. I should delete the rsr file? How does the .png link up to the file to make the mat work?

Make sure the PNG is named precisely the same as the CR2 including Spaces, underscores etctera. Also, if you have more than 100 objects in the library in Poser 5 there's a setting in an XML file that needs to be changed to address the 100 object limit to each directory. I don't know the link to the thread here that talks about it.

Cedarwolf, if you're using MAT Pose Edit, it does NOT create an RSR or PNG file. You need to apply the MAT Pose by clicking on the Shrugging Guy. Then you render, and save the png the way I described.
