Actually I think it was shown on the SciFi station in the U.S., and it's available on DVD now so there is potential for getting an answer to yoru question (you might want to also post in The Den Forum, which is the most diverse of the forums here). The graphite might just be a plot device for the series...I honestly don't know the answer to your question, but I'll be interested in the response.

Hmmmm...the website has a clue:"Stakes and garlic do work but it's the chemicals inside - carbon and allicin that are the key."
"They can be neutralized by exposure to sunlight or by introducing carbon into the chest cavity (projectile, probe or explosive). Resulting immolation releases enough energy to start fires."

I know we have a pretty diverse population here at renderosity so I thought I would throw this out. There was a British Tv mini series that was released back in 1998 called Ultraviolet. I have never seen it but was told about it. I noticed on a website that they said they used "graphite bullets" against the vampires creatures...my question to anyone that has seen this, did they ever give a reason why graphite was lethal or did they just run with it. Also if anyone that didn't see the show know of a reason Graphite would be lethal to vampires I would be curious to know. Thanks Japes
