Well I sat down and played with psp on Jedswindel's vessel. I'd love to get some feedback on what I should be working some more on and what stuff (if any) looks right as is. I don't usually do postwork so any pointers are appreciated. And again I want to thank Jedswindel for the wonderful freebie ship!

Good job so far, but for as dark as the sky is, the ship seems too bright.

:) yeah I thought so too, but I decided to just chalk it up to moonlight even tho you can't see the moon, lol. Sounds good doesnt' it? I'd love to be able to get the moonlight reflecting off the water, maybe that will be something for me to play with. Thanks Jason.

Yep, same opinion here, maybe more lighter highlights on the waves and foam in the water ! :)

yep, lighter waves at the top and some splashy effects. This is an image I did along the same lines a long time ago. Perhaps it will help as a reference? or perhaps its not what you are after... but just a thought :) BT

:-) those darn giant squids will ruin a good boat every time. Thanks for the reference pic, love seeing stuff like that!

Ang you might want to had a pit of green colouring to the water as well, looks like there is way to much blue in the image imo. Other than that and making the tops(whites) of the waves brighter(whiter) its looking great.

did some changes, any more advice?

Kemal ( ) posted Wed, 27 October 2004 at 10:16 PM · edited Wed, 27 October 2004 at 10:17 PM

Yeah, one more advice, lol, try not to worry about Renderosity disc space and post a little bit bigger image, cuz in my age, i cannot see anything in the image small like that, hehe :P

It looks to me that you did some nice improvements, even do it's rather difficult to see !!! :)

Just messing with ya, girl, really nice work you have going on ! :)

When you gonna put it in your gallery ? :)

Sorry, I have trouble compositing images. :-D is this better?

LunarTick ( ) posted Wed, 27 October 2004 at 11:15 PM

much better Ang.

Jaymonjay ( ) posted Wed, 27 October 2004 at 11:43 PM

If I may say, Ang, this is your best work yet. :) The only recommendation I can offer is to change the sky. Those are some stormy, and beautiful, seas. Where are the clouds roiling o'erhead? ;)

danamo ( ) posted Wed, 27 October 2004 at 11:49 PM

I have to agree with Jaymonjay Ang, I think this is the best work you've done yet!

Great pic. I've been searching my bookmarks for a description that Rochr gave of how he lights in postwork, but can't find it. Did come across the attached tutorial, also useful........ :^)

PS - one thing about searching for bookmarks to link is that you come across really useful stuff you'd forgotten about. Here's another great thread on postwork.

Oh, wow, that's much better, Ang, I love it !!!!!! :)

Ang25 ( ) posted Thu, 28 October 2004 at 6:08 AM

This is simply excellent, Ang! I've added a couple of yellow lines here. They represent where I think two important ropes are missing on the model. You could add them in Bryce or post. These would be called 'Main Braces' and are an important part of the rigging on any major vessel. The lower-most one would be anchored to the foot of the foremast and not to the side of the ship as I've shown here - I sort of cocked that up a bit;-)
