. . . Our contract is an old one. It was made when we were both poor, and content to be so, until in good season, we could improve our worldly fortune by our patient industry. You are changed. When it was made, you were another man . . . Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol. Hi Folks! In Part #2, Ebenezer Scrooge travels back to his Past. He must relive the moment when, as a young man, his growing lust for wealth costs him a chance for true happiness. The background scene was rendered in Bryce. Each figure was rendered separately and composited in Photoshop. (My holiday present to myself will be more RAM so I can safely render multiple-figure scenes in Poser!) Most of the figures and props are Poser defaults. Scrooges nightcoat was hacked out of some Infini-D primitives that were processed into .obj files using Painter 3D, combined with Poser torus props, and edited in Photoshop. The young Scrooges top hat is from the Poser Props Guild, courtesy of Virus. The Spirit of the Past is wearing the Corrected Thin Strap Dress by TLaubach. The Spirits halo is a lens flare effect added in Photoshop. Thanks also to Traveler for the aging man face morphs. The scene has perhaps a bit too much of a contemporary look. I took a lot of poetic liberties in portraying the Spirit, and I havent done very much to reduce the mannequin-like appearance of the Poser figures. On the other hand, it has a kind-of childrens book/cartoon illustration look that Im growing to enjoy--particularly since I dont have the time to compose an image of fine art quality. I welcome your comments and would love to see your own graphic interpretations of Yuletide classics. (Anyone wanna try the entrance of the three kings in Amahl and the Night Visitors?) I actually like the more "cartoon-like" renders also. Perhaps it's from reading too many comic books as a kid. Really like this story & enjoy your take on it, keep it up.
