Just IMAGINE if you could apply Procedural Textures to your Poser Models and then Photo-Realistically render them? All for a FRACTION of the price of other EXPENSIVE software. Wouldn't THAT be cool...!? Oh Well- I GUESS that MIGHT happen someday in the FUTURE... (heh!)

Well- you can always get 3D MAX, Lightwave, Brazil, etc.. and spend Thousands of Bucks.. Well- I guess not....maybe SOMEDAY... (heh!)

I GUESS I just have to only DREAM about the future... ...when SOMEDAY these capabilities will be in a cheap, easy to use software that directly reads in my Poser stuff and renders it with simple, easy to use, realistic lighting...

The top one is the old Poser Skeleton- or at least- a freebie Skull Morph Target I found in the Renderosity Free Stuff. The Tarantula is not Noggin's (which I recently bought) but actually one I have from my De Espona 3D Model collection. The Gargoyle is a freebie mesh I downloaded from someplace. It has no readme file. Maybe from an European website. The "Blue Eyes" character is from the Renderosity Store. And the Scorpion is from De Espona.

Vue 5 supports Poser 5 dynamic hair-- but I've not tried it yet. Hmmm- maybe a reason to ACTUALLY USE my Poser 5 for something...

It would be interesting to see the results. I can't find any real reason to use p5 either, but I plan on getting Vue5 Pro. Maybe rendering dynamic hair in Vue5 won't lock up my machine like firefly does. And it might even look like real hair.

Well, I get the impression that E-on is certainly very interested in what the POSER user base wants in Vue 5 Pro.
They are moving increasily closer to the REALITY of being
a full-service Poser rendering software program. And they have covered much of the ground already...

Jackson: If P5 dynamic hair locks up your machine, or looks unrealistic, I can probably help. Drop by our forums at StudioVerite.com and post a message, and we can get you moving in the right direction. Most often the issues with P5 hair can be solved with proper optimization, materials, or workflow.

Here's a link to an image I posted some time ago. It was my second experiment with Poser 5's hair, and we're only getting better. ;)

V7 - I hope you're right. softriver - Thanks much for the offer, I'll be there tomorrow. However, my problems aren't with the dynamic hair as much as they are with firefly. And you need to render in firefly to use the hair. Excellent pic, but--no offense--it's just one figure with hair. I've tried every combination of settings in firefly and it still can't handle complex, multi-figure scenes...which is what I do most. My system: XP Pro Dual Xeon 1.7's (yes, I know p5 don't use 'em) 1 gig o' ram 100 gig HD, 50 free nothing else running but p5.

Well, your machine specs look pretty good. You have twice as much RAM as I do, although I'm running a 2.8 Northwood Pentium chip. Firefly does get resource heavy while rendering, admittedly, but we may be able to find some workarounds. I have to get back to work for now (I'm taking a break to check on this thread), but please be sure to open this for discussion tomorrow. We're trying our best to make P5 as competitive within the market as possible, which has been difficult until recently because Curious Labs did a horrible job of presenting most features in the documentation (not to mention the release issues, with which the community is all too familiar). When we see a real problem (like yours) it's very important for us to get a fix on it A.S.A.P. =D

Please tell me if I am insane. Not until you are turned into a vampire and start calling yourself Spike. Before that you're just a cheesy poet. =D I'm not sure if you can use the P4 renderer for hair... never tried. I'll give it a shot tonight, though. :)

I am not going to buy Vue just because of you. They lost a sale. check out Sixus1's Phibian if you don't think Poser 5 can do what your showing out of the box. You don't have to have Vue to do procedural's. Even Shade LE does GI and can use HDRI and far cheaper than Vue. Vue is not the second coming and won't replace Poser, another alternative yes, but not the only solution.

I thought you were showing off DAZ Studio or some other Poser-like program at first, but if this is another Vue promo, why not post it in the Vue forum? We get the point that you like Vue, but most of us here like Poser just as much, just the way it is. :) SnowS

Since I use P5 and Vue4 pro in "combination" almost every day it is good to see what can be done.
I'm really looking forward to the Vue5 pro and what it will be able to do together with my P5. :o)
