Subject: Costume ideas?

Is there a problem with posting photos of outfits, costumes, and such that you download off the internet, to give people who make the props ideas? I recently downloaded a bunch of Race queen photos and really like the costumes and thought that somebody might be able to convert them to poser props or figures. That just one example. Don't want to violate the TOS!

Well, from a copyright standpoint, unless you snapped the photos yourself, they belong to someone else, and you probably shouldn't be redistributing them without permission. As an alternative, you could post links to the webpages, provided those sites aren't pornographic in nature.

I got all of them from the newsgroups. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I seem to recall sometime ago that several of the people who make costume figures and props asked for suggestions or ideas and asked for a picture also. It has been quiet a while ago....

There'd certainly be a copyright problem, and potentially trademarks as well. I can't help thinking that Racequeens, Cheerleaders, and the like, are a bit dull as a character concept. Ornamental enough, but so limited. Still, nobody ever went broke underestimating the lustfulness of the average Poser user. :)

The particular costume that started all of this reminded me of an outfit that I saw in a bad B-Movie that was so bad that it was good. The amazon space warriors for lack of a better term had on these spandex outfits. Considering that movie was from Japan and the RQ's are Japanese, it doesn't surprise me to see a link. Compared to other RQ outfits that I have seen it was unique enough to catch my eye.

I'm not sure, but I suspect that if you add a faint (but visible) "Copyright XYZ" diagonally across the picture, so that it can't be used by anyone else, you'll probably be in the clear. Cheers, Diolma
