Subject: UK standard Delivery times and Mover question.

Last Wednesday I got my cc bill and had a nice surprise for once they had put up my spending limit :P The first thing I did was to order my Vue 5 upgrade with standard shiping (I'm in UK), after seeing all these great renders (thanks Veritas!) I couldn't control myself lol. Thursday I got an email saying that it had been shipped so I was hoping it would be here Saturday (I know I'm impatient)fingrs crossed it will be here tomorrow :) Out of curiosity how long has it been taking for others in the UK? Also I own Vue 4 and Mover 5(patched free from V4) will my mover be compatible with Vue 5 or will I have to buy it again? The other thing that I was wondering was if it is compatible will E-on have to send out a different serial number as I understand that mine will be keyed to my Vue 4 serial number? Sorry to ramble, I'm not getting much sleep and am soooo excited, more so than with any of my other software purchases! Angela

Hi Angela- Can't help you with the UK shipping part- but I'll renderup one of your horses in HDR in post it here...

Took mine 5 days from when eon announced shipping.
Can't help with Mover 5 though, only just purchased it.

Thanks both of you :) I can't wait for mine to get here.... I'll look forward to seeing your horse render Veritas, I'm interested how my textures will stand up to HADRI lighting! Angela

Don't fret, you're set as far as Mover goes. On the app CD is a folder labeled add-ons. In there is a Vue 5 specific version of Mover 5. Install -that-, and have you Vue 4 and Mover 4 serial numbers handy. Use the Mover 4 number to register. Vue will then ask for the Vue 4 number to validate the MOver 4 number. Once that's done, all is well. Just be aware that the Rendercow has issues...as in it will bomb if it starts to render a frame. I'm passing error messages and debug text to e-on, and hopefully there will be a solution (Mover 5 itself works; its the distributed renderer that chokes).

Clydesdale!

A bit of touch-up on the body (a few small spots) and on the fetlocks (made them a little softer).

The Dapple-Grey Shire gave me a bit more of a problem. The HDRI lighting really amplifies any color artifacts in the white areas of a texture map. So- had a bit of small weird bluish and reddish spots in the white-only areas to remove using the Photoshop desaturate sponge.

I think that texture maps that look fine in Poser will need a more editing if they contain a lot of lighter areas. It's not a big problem- just something you will discover once you start doing HDR renders. Tiny defects will get amplified because the render method is so much more realistic looking...

The Clydesdale could also use some less grey-blue on the fetlocks- I think that was because the darker color I picked for them had a blue-grey tone. That's another thing you'll find- ANY color tones in HDR lighting seem to get amplified more that what you are used to in Poser. - So I am starting to learn to try and make my greyscale tones with absolute "0" desaturation- as even a tiny amount seems to get picked up in HDRI...

DaleB: Thanks for that, I'd be lost without my mover:) At least we can trust e-on to fix the rc bug as quickly as possible, they have a much better track record with patches than some companies that I could mention ;p

Veritas: Wow they look lovely, especially the clyde, thank you :)

I'm working on some mh textures at the moment and although they look great in poser, I noticed that the highlights stand out strangely in other apps with better lighting. A bit like the V3 textures, I use the Highlight and contour ones in poser and the standard (no highlights) for everything else.

I'm working on removing the highlights for the first one but it just looks awful in poser - hopefully I'll be able to try it out in Vue 5's new lighting soon!

That's a good tip about the greys thanks :)

Shrimp: Cheers for that, I was hoping mine would be here this morning but at least now I know that it should arrive around Wednesday...
