Subject: exporting meta primitives as .obj or other 3d format

pakled ( ) posted Tue, 09 November 2004 at 12:04 PM · edited Sat, 16 November 2024 at 2:51 AM

Just started with this, but was wondering what's going on in relation to the meta-primitives. I've been playing with them in Blender, but if I try to export them as a model, they don't transfer. Regular primitives seem to work fine. I just wondered if there's something special about them, that needs some sort of preperation in exporting..thanks..

Mind if I ask what meta-primitives are?

I made it up, sorry. There seem to be 2 kinds of primitives (spheres, cubes, etc.), and meta-forms of them (interactive primitives, you can have them flow into each other depending on proximity). I've gotten some very interesting shapes in Blender, but when I try to export them out of Blender, they just don't show up..let me know if I'm missing something..

What version of Blender are you currently using? I'm using 2.34 and it works fine for me.

In object mode, try converting the meta to a mesh (alt+c) and then export the .obj.

yes its easy as owl says. you can also rightclick on the object and in the menu that pops up choose the convert object option under object. i tried it and exported the mesh as .obj to bryce see the picture those metaobjects work so smooth i was amazed.
