Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 27 12:30 pm)
Joana, I'm no BVH expert, but in my experiences converting poser-type BVHs to "standard" ones is difficult to do by hand. But if you're willing to invest a little money then I suggest you pick up Credo's LifeForms software which builds and transforms BVH formats among others. I picked up a copy of their old Lifeforms 3.5 in E-Digit magazine about a year or so ago. I think more recent Lifeforms are at version 4 or 5 by now. This is excellent software for what you want however. Good luck in any case. -lb
I can probably write a Python script to do this. At the moment I'm unexpectedly busy. Remind me by IM if you want me to try.

ockham: This would be a huge help. I'm using Max mostly now because of the work I'm doing but am most comforatable animating in Poser. Your script will get me much closer to animated figures in Max that were rigged in Max. This would be great! Thanks, Joe P.S. I'll look into lifeforms but would rather spit the bvh out of Poser directly if I could.
"lifeforms will do this i use version4 all the time!!" Hi, I got a demo copy of Life Forms and downloaded the tutoriais... They show me how to make motions from Life Forms to Poser... I did not find a way to do conversions from Poser BVH files to "generic ones"... Could you tell me where do I find a tutorial explaining how to do this? Thank you, guys Joana

Hi guys, I would like to convert my Poser generated BVH files to be like the "generic ones" you find for free or buy on the Net. I noticed that the ones generated in Poser have differences from the others (I call "generic ones") in structure, e.g., Rotation, Hierarchy, Body Part Names... So, help me: How do I convert these Poser BVH Files to "generic ones"? Thank you all, guys, Joana
