A clone of whom? Apparently I missed the whole idea or I'm not looking in the right place. I didn't recognize anyone.

ArtyMotion ( ) posted Thu, 18 November 2004 at 3:17 PM

I have to admit I wasn't sure who the "clone" at the link was either. I hunted around to see if I could find a picture of it ... but Catharina Przezak Harders (of mec4d.com) once did a Michael clone of Sean Connery that was spot on. I wish I could find a link.

3D Dream had an old man freebie texture for the head-- I think it was M3 but not sure-- dead on for Sean Connery in The Rock! All in texture too. Emily

I'm yet to see a good clone of Alan Alda.....

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Fri, 19 November 2004 at 3:20 AM ยท edited Fri, 19 November 2004 at 3:20 AM

Yeah I did the Professor Snape one. Actually at the moment I ONLY do Professor Snape pics L (an excuse to actually do Alan Rickman pics, but that's beside this point.. I think)

There are some Snape renders in my gallery here. Some say my latest Harry Potter clone is pretty close too. I'm not 100% satisfied with it myself though, but both him and Snape are on my Avada Kedavra pic, so you could go see for yourself...

I remember that Sean Connory one too, it was awesome.

I found a yahoo! group on 3D cloning. They speak of a certain program or poser ad-on called facegen. Does anybody knows what is is? Looks quite handy to have around...

ArtyMotion ( ) posted Fri, 19 November 2004 at 8:09 AM

Yup, you can find it at www.facegen.com The face room in Poser is a subset of the same program. The "full-featured" version is $495 I think ... and if I'm not mistaken you have to use their head geometry as well. I think in order to use other characters you have to get the "Customizer" on top of it, which is another $495.

Byrdie ( ) posted Fri, 19 November 2004 at 11:50 AM ยท edited Fri, 19 November 2004 at 11:53 AM

Even worse, facegen won't let you share any morphs you create. Their EULA gives them claim to everything, no legal way to distribute character files. Which is why even if I could afford it, I wouldn't bother.

Yeah it really is an awful lot of money to spend for a casual hobbyist. I can see using it for professional animation and art, but not for hobby.

peevee ( ) posted Fri, 19 November 2004 at 12:04 PM

I see, I also saw a program here in the store ( still to real V.3.0 ) to create facial clones. How about that?

ArtyMotion ( ) posted Fri, 19 November 2004 at 12:05 PM

Do a search in the forums here for that before you decide to buy.

rnrkaren's bono, by far. and the liam kemp stuff is interesting, cause it looks a lot like v3 with a pretty good texture (but no better than available in the marketplace) really, really well lit and posed. actually, i'm not in love with the shape of her face, or how plastic her lips look at times. it amazes me how much of quality seems to be good lighting, which also seems to take the most talent.

RnRWoman has some great Beatles clones as well - check out her gallery. the link is for Bruce Lee by Gaspo - 3dmax, a beautiful work. :)

ShadowWind ( ) posted Sun, 21 November 2004 at 1:02 AM

I tried to do one of Jessica Alba, but didn't come out as well as expected (wound up with some postwork) and an Aaliyah Tribute.

LadyLight did a Sandra Bullock texture for the original P4 woman which she showed in a couple of images and a Sean Connery one as well. Not sure if it's in her gallery still though.
