Subject: "Miss Digital World"

Many of you have no doubt heard of or visited the site sponsoring the "Miss Digital World" contest. Artists submit their 3d models to the site, site visitors vote, and on Dec. 3 they're going to announce the winner.

www.missdigitalworld.com

Anyway, I finally visited, and I was surprised how ugly, as in U-G-L-Y, most of the "Top 10" votegetters are. I see many, many femmes on this site much prettier (realistic or otherwise).

Now, I guess I'm spoiled by feeding off the many talented people whose combined efforts give us combinations of Vicky 3 + textures + hair + clothes. And, I hasten to add, for those Top 10 girls, one artist working alone, building a mesh and everything else from scratch, is impressive, and way beyond anything I myself could create.

But, objectively speaking, I just don't think many of those models at Miss Digital are very attractive.

What do y'all think?

Judging from the top ten, I have a feeling that it's the same type of "popularity contest" that goes on here. I would venture to guess that some of the people who are in the top ten aren't there because they are the best, but because they have solicited the most votes.

I'm very impressed by Webbie ... she looks original and is very well done, and quite realistic.

Yeah most of the models look real crappy. And some are just Possette. There is may 2 models that actually look good. The contest has been going on for a while and yet hardly any entries. So basically its a waste of webspace

I was somewhat intrigued when I first heard them announce the MDW contest a while back, but I have to say that they lost all credibility with me (and quite a few others, I'm sure) by allowing Poser figures to be entered. If they want to have any hope of regaining their credibility, they should disallow such things in any future contests. Either that or have a separate category for Poser/altered non-original figures.

I agree with R Hatch. While one can make Poser figures look different using morphs. most that would submit a Poser model either did not build the model themselves or they did not create the morphs themselves. I also thought it to be starnge that the rules state that I must wholey own the copyright on the dta I submit to them and yet there are poser submissions
