Subject: IM gremlins at play again!

I discovered a few months ago that if you take a fairly long time to compose an IM and then send it, more times than not it'll get lost by the IM system and never actually get sent to the recipient.

I find it VERY difficult to recreate the same feeling in a message the second time around. I usually try to manually copy the message to Notepad just in case it's lost, but don't always remember that either. Of course, once or twice I didn't even realize the message didn't go through and wondered for a while why I never got a response (or even the automatic "Message Received" IM).

Anyway, I just wanted to bring this to the attention of the PTB in case it can be fixed by "the programmers."

This isn't the same issue as exceeding the maximum # of characters in a message (which I think is 5000), it's some sort of a time limit. When this happens, you're still logged into Renderosity, so it's not the general inactivity issue that requires you to re-log in to the site. When you hit "send" you don't get the "Message sent..." page, instead you get a page where you could start an entirely new IM. When you hit the "Back" button, what you had written is gone!

if this could be fixed, thanks! Bye, Jen

Yep, the IM feature needs a serious overhaul. I've lost two recently that I had no warning on. More often than not I rely on sending through PoserPros or Daz's PM system instead of here.
