THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Thanks for the Warm Reception

Really appreciated the great kindness shown to me after posting my first image at Renderosity. Everyone was so generous and gracious and my fears laid to rest. I do welcome positive critique and thank you for that too. Sometimes I look at a picture long enough that it looks fine when what I really need is a new pair of eyes to view it. The work that I've seen here is outstanding and the community full of diverse talent. I'm glad to be a part of it. :) PS-Also, I'm having computer problems and am on my old W98 typing. Don't seem to be able to fix it so not sure when I'll be back in the gallery commenting. It's an "IE is experiencing a problem, blah, blah" message and it dumps me right after connecting. Ready to pull my hair out!

Welcome to Renderosity. I liked your first pic. Feel free to ask any questions and Bryce on ;-) Doug

IE experiencing problems sounds like you loaded service pack 2. I dumped IE and went with Mozilla..works great. Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff when you "get back"

Slakker ( ) posted Fri, 03 December 2004 at 9:22 PM

you could also use Opera web browser, it's all i use these days. Don't know how you'll get the install file to your other PC without IE, though...i don't know if it can be transferred on Floppy.

Welcome, Burpee. Looking forward to seeing more of your works here for sure. :) Try using Firefox for your browser....more security and no popups. *smile*

Hey all, thanks! Jocko500...as long as it isn't bikini shots that will work just fine, lol ;) Quick question about browsers...can my ISP connect using something other than IE? I'm thinking "no". I have AT&T (which I love, btw). Lots of people use Mozilla or Opera and they sound like great alternatives. I have my website through AT&T free and don't want to lose it. I'm sure these are dumb questions but I have to learn sometime. Thanks :)

As long as you have an internet connection, you can use another browser: Mozilla, Opera, Netscape. But you'll have to use IE to get to one of those sites to download a different browser (if that makes sense). So you can keep your ISP, just download a new browser.

Burpee ( ) posted Fri, 03 December 2004 at 11:55 PM

Thanks Doug, I'm downloading Mozilla Firefox right now. Hopefully it will work for me (fingers crossed) Jocko, I was just teasing...you wouldn't want to see me in a bikini is all :D ISP is Internet Service Provider...like AOL, Juno, Earthlink, etc....the people you pay to be online :) The browser is IE (Internet Explorer) or Mozilla or Opera or others...the links that allow the ISP to let you connect. That's the best I can explain it as I'm not very knowledgeable. Thanks again to everyone, on my way to see what this Mozilla can do for me :)

Once you're back online with Mozilla it could be worth downloading AdAware and SpyBot (both free), and running them. It could be that IE has been hijacked by something like FunWeb? Not very knowledgable about pcs, but it's worth trying everything. Mozilla is fine, but some things just aren't compatable with it, you need to be able to use IE if you want to!! too early in the morning for my brain to tangle with HTML, so just cut and paste :^) http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html Lovely warm picture, by the way.

Welcome. Waiting to see more of your work. Mozilla is a nice browser to use. I use both Mozilla and Internet Explorer. Like Pog said.... there are somethings that Mozilla Foxfire don't work with yet.

Spy Bot Search & Destroy... good to have. You might also want to check out Hijack This... you can get it from the link above, or just copy and paste this url into your address bar and download the zip. http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip

If you are haveing a lot of trouble with IE or other windows issues check out this link for free support and excellent help.8)

There are 10 kinds of people: Those who know binary, and those who don't.

A whiner is about as useful as a one-legged man at an arse kicking contest.

Glad to see you got on the new browser bandwagon, Burpee. Swade...what things don't Firefox 1.0 work well with?

pogmahone ( ) posted Sun, 05 December 2004 at 1:20 AM

Atmosphere doesn't work in it, for one :^(

Hi, I'm back on. Turns out that it was my Panicware Popup Stopper. It was so bad that I could not view my pages offline, just dumped me. I reset my internet options back to default and unchecked "enable third party extensions" In the meantime, I've got the phone company checking every inch of wire in my house :D So far I've found out that I have archaic and obsolete equipment. Hopefully, they'll replace it. Pogmahone and Swade, thanks for the links. I do have Lavasoft's Adware, which I love, and I've heard that Hijack This is excellent. Wouldn't hurt to have both. So the browser is what gives you graphics on the internet? Is that why some people's monitors show different colors, are blurrier or why I see a forest fire when some people see mist? I can do an image that looks great to me but on my mom's computer it looks horrible.

Ardiva ( ) posted Sun, 05 December 2004 at 9:01 AM

Burpee..the problem seeing different colors on different monitors is caused by different monitor settings...just like when you go to a TV store and see all the different TV models tuned into the same TV station, but they look kinda different on each one? Ps..I had to disable my PanicWare 'cause it was interferring with Firefox's abilities. FF has it's own built in popup stopper, so no need for any other. :)

Burpee ( ) posted Sun, 05 December 2004 at 9:54 AM

You are right Ardiva, those TVs all have different colors. Makes it hard to make the "perfect pic", lol. Thanks again everyone! Nancy
