Came over here to post a notice about the Darker Shades of Christmas contest we're holding on Dreamslayerartworks in the contest forum and I found several great contests without a single reply. The one at Planit3D posted by Fitzy especially caught my eye...but nary a reply.I have noticed that when you post about a contest almost anywhere else in the forums you'll get replys and in some cases a lot of interest, but post in the Contest forum (where your posts will now be moved if they're about a contest) there seems to be absolutely no interest in most cases.

Now let me say this isn't a rant lol...just if the contest forum is being ignored by almost every member and members take notice when you post elsewhere, makes me wonder if something needs to be done like maybe boost the forum up to the top a bit where it gets more visibility?

Anyhow, ours is the second annual Darker Shades of Christmas contest held this year on my site Dreamslayerartworks with a lot of great support including the great folk here at Renderosity for which I am extremely grateful. For those who don't remember from last year when it was held here on rosity,Darker Shades begins in 1968 when Santa's beloved Clara dies and he loses the spirit of Christmas because of the depression of his loss and the commercialization humanity has created surrounding this time of year.Santa kinda takes to the bottle but over the years has also become quite the playboy while Christmasland reverts to a more primitive state as it was before he created it.Now his daughter Candace Claus who has come to the rescue trying to recreate Christmas in the world but having known only the darker realm her father allowed Christmasland to become, she recruits ogres and other beasties under her wings to bring back the Christmas spirit we seem to have lost.

This year enter her nemesis Max Scrooge who was more than a little upset that trolls dropped ten tons of coal down his chimney last Christmas and after a year of trying to get even,Candace has summoned three spirits to teach him the error of his ways or maybe teach others the error of their own ways if he doesn't understand before the ghost of Christmas future gets to him;P

This is a fun contest to kinda offset the more serious nature of other contests and have a blast doing it...rules are simple,do an image you think fits the story or the activity of vampires, werewolves and other nastys who have the Christmas spirit...but having normally only participated in Halloween, what will they do now that Candace actually welcomes their participation (heh)!?You are allowed up to three images, nudity is allowed but please...within reason;)

We welcome the members of Renderosity to join in and being that this was intended to be a merchants appreciation contest for 3d artists everywhere, merchants are still allowed to submit prizes to get their names up in lights and cash contributions are always welcome so long as I'm not directly involved;P

Anyway, just wanted to say my piece about the contest forum and somehow get your attention without inviting the ghost of Christmas future here to show you that its not just taxes you have to fear;P

Just because there is't a reply, doesn't mean people haven't looked at the link. But I am glad you reminded people there is a Contest forum. I think often people get familiar with one or two forums and forget to browse around. There are more than 60 forums (I don't count well first thing in the morning).....I doubt if most members think to visit more than three or four, if that, if at all (I suspect some people never make it past the galleries or Marketplace).

Yeah...thats why I suggested they move it up because the contest forum is designed to be more or less generic to cover all formats including 2d I believe.Such a forum should place more prominantly to build more participation across the board so that Bryce users who may come in to traffic the Poser forums might catch a great contest they otherwise might miss. Since a lot of people come in by clicking the contest link, placing it more prominantly at the top would generate more interest. In fact lol,its similar in nature to the community forum itself and to me it would make as much sense to reduce the number of forums by combining forums with less traffic but similar topic nature. Anyway...hope you guys check the contest out and maybe let your feelings be known so you won't miss any great contest info either happening here or on other sites:)
