Hmmm...k..couple first thoughts: -A lot of highly reflective gold..almost too much for my eyes. See how the pentagram starts to disappear around the edge? Too much reflection picking up the floor. I think I'd kick down the reflection and add a slight brushed metal bump to some of those pieces. Especially since you are going to have a LOT of lights bouncing off all that. -Bump map on the stone walls looks a little strong and a little big. In general I'd try toning down the textures. All that being said I think the design is VERY cool. Look forward to seeing where you go with it.
I agree about both the reflectivity, and the overall coolness!! :^) At first glance I thought the banner behind the throne was some kind of portal to another dimension, which would be pretty awesome. Regarding the pentagram on the floor - I wonder if it wouldn't look more convincing if it was inlaid into the floor, rather than projecting up like that (wonder if mages worry about Public Liability lawsuits? ;^)) I quite like the texture on the pillars. The throne looks a little bit plain in comparison to everything else. Seeing Claymor's remark about too much reflective gold, I couldn't resist posting this link to an image of a throne...... http://www.artlex.com/ArtLex/b/images/baroq_bernini.throne.lg.jpg ROTFLMAO
I agree with the above notes. Try cutting back on bump scale and amount, and reflection. The objects are losing definition due to the reflection. At first it looked like you used a very heavy contrast in post work. The set up is excellent, Reminds me of scenes in the Diablo II game.

Ockham's razor- It's that simple
Wow that throne pog posted a link to is out of control and truly amazing. The artist who made that was either consummed by religious ecstacy or on some seriously bad acid trip.

Ok, attaching the first one to this post. This is the hall I've been adding materials to to build the background for the scene so far. I will post another of the other end of the hall. It's starting to come together I think. I've left all my lighting out. That's going to really slow things down once I insert that into the render. Let me know what you think. This is going to be a Mage Hall where a group of them are summoning something they probally should lave well enough alone...
