Bonjour Anybody face a situation like mine below and find a solution? I have bought downloaded Carrara4 standard edition few days ago because xmas discount. Before installing it,i have uninstalled Carrara3 version and Transposer plugin i had with it(everything was working with C3 ,even Transposer was slowing loading Poser files it load with all textures). Now after installing Carrara4 ,i have problem with Transposer

First:installation problem
i have downloaded TransposerC4WinUpdater and try to install it .Asking to a previous version .Ok But asking also for Carrara3.Ok reinstalling Carrara3.Reinstalling Transposer with original cd on Carrara3 and make update to C4 on Carrara 3 installation.Take the new installing files for Transposer from C3(with C4 update) and put them at the same places on my C4 folder.Questions:how can i install Transposer directly on Carrara4

Second:using Transposer on C4 problem
Load carrara4 and it seems working.Try to load Poser files.Slowly but finally it is loading and ask to locate Poser.exe.Ok click in my Poser folder and Poser.exe.After long long time i see the poser caracter but no textures on it .Everything is white.
Try again: same each times always ask for Poser exe and no textures was load with the .pz3 file.
I see the path for Poser exe correctly on the message but Carrara4 seems don't remember it .Still no texture each time
What can i do now?

Thanks

It will always ask for the Poser path when you use TransPoser. Mine is in the default Poser path, which it remembers.

Opening a Poser file in Carrara is much different than importing one. Opening one will tell Carrara to use the same render settings as Poser used. Importing one will not, so Carrara will use either its own default render settings or the render settings from the Carrara scene that you opened before you imported your Poser object. I don't know which files TransPoser uses that you can copy for Carrara 4 to use for the next time you install it.

I'm using C4Pro which automatically installs TransPOser but I imagine this will be the same for you. There's a TransPoser preferences file called Preference.Txt which is located in a PoserImporter subfolder of the WindowsApplication DataEovia folder (depending on your version of Windows). This text file contains only this line: appP "C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 5poser.exe" on my system as I'm using the default location. Deleting the file will force C4 to remake it which may solve your problem. Or you might try editing the file if you think it needs it. Mark

Thanks I find the correspondant file appP "E:Poser5poser.exe" The path is correct for my system (on Windows XP Sp1 not Sp2 installed) But the problem is still there.Transposer is included in Pro version not in standard one.But i have bought the plugin before from Eovia and it was ok in Carrara 3.

Then unless anybody else has any ideas I suggest you contact Eovia for their advice. The plugin is obviously not working as it should. Mark

I finally contact Eovia. They help for installing the plugin. You really need to have Carrara3 installed for installing Transposer update on Carrara4.But still have problem with loading poser file(always ask for locating poser.exe and no textures).I am waiting again suggestions from Eovia support

Have you tried just saving the default male figure from Poser 5 (with no compression) and see if you can open the file in Carrara 4? He should have textures when you render him. The guy comes with his own lights so you don't have to add them into the scene.

I ask to Eovia about it.There is the answer i have received:
Would you please install poser in a default location. C:Curious LabsPoser..... There is a bug with TransPoser where things get messy if Poser is installed in a non default location. I apologize for the inconvenience this may bring.

And my answer to Eovia( my english is so so,i am a french speaking person, but i think they understand):

Thanks for answer but I think is a better way to correct the bug in Transposer.Imagine lots Poser files i must correct for textures references and others if i change my Poser location .And when i had Carrara3 my Poser exe was at the same place and everything was good.I thought that If Transposer ask for Poser location it was supposed to take the correct reference . If Transposer only check for defaut location, why ask to indicate the location of Poser.exe..defaut is defaut for everyone ,for your programmer too.Sorry, your suggestion is not a good one and it is not logical

I install my programs to their default locations because programmers often don't test the installation software they use for their programs.
