Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 14 7:46 am)
There's a limit of 256 folders in any library. But before you reach this point, Poser starts truncating the names as you've seen. There are a variety of solutions: Upgrade to Poser 5. ;) Remove folders you don't really use - just move them somewhere else on your disk so Poser can't 'see' them, then you can replace them. Check out a utility called Pbooost which facilitates the process mentioned above. Put some of your poses in the camera library, renaming the extension from pz2 to cm2. They'll still work.

Hi, I'm having a problem I'm hoping someone can help me with. I use Poser 4 with the 4.03 patch. After buying a bunch of new stuff and installing it, I find that I can't access half my mat files. When I pull up "Pose" and choose a category, I get a different set of thumbnails than the one I chose. Also, my pose category names have been truncated to the point that I don't know how to find a particular mat half the time. I've been reduced to going back to the old way of loading my figures and then going into "materials" and loading each texture individually. That's difficult with some outfits because they have so many parts, each with different transparencies and bumps, it's hard to figure out what goes with what; this is particularly a problem with the V3 Leathers and the Cyclorama environments. Is anyone else having this problem and has some tips on how to solve it? Can I create a new pose library and relocate some of my mat files there? Would that help? If anyone can help me, I would be forever grateful.
