There is a Daz tutorial on creating ghost body parts - is this what you are looking for?Hope it helps. I managed to get it to work on a conforming dress I was working on. The only limitation I could see is that if you want to add extra handles to an existing Poser figure, they'll be invisible - poser needs it's .obj files to be in a specific format which the modeling software I've tried breaks.
As far as I can tell, your handles have to be part of the original object. Only a single object will be taken into the setup room, even if objects are parented to each other. If your new figure hasn't been set up as a figure yet, you can add poser primitives, export everything as an .obj then import as a single object. I've just experimented with props parented to each other and to figures to confirm this, and they don't show in the setup room. The boning part is actually fairly straightforward (it's getting the joint setting correct later that is the difficult bit..) 1) Import your object 2) Go to the setup room 3) Select the bone for the body part you want your handle to influence - as an example if you wanted to add a bone to allow you to flare a sleeve, select the bone attached to the part of the sleeve you want to move. 4) Use the Bone Drawing tool to draw a new bone, starting from the point you want your effect to hinge and ending at your body handle. 5) Exit the setup room. If you move your body handle it will now infuence your model, but probably not in the way you want it to. 6) Select the joint editor and adjust the joint settings for your new bone until it does what you want it to. This is the tricky bit... One possibility for adding a new body handle to an existing figure might be 1) Open your target figure 2) Create the new body handles as primatives 3) Export the entire scene as an obj, making sure that the extra props are selected. 4) Delete everything 5) Import the new .obj 6) Go to the setup room 7) Double click on the original item. This will restore the original bones and joints, but not the groups, so now use the group tool to recreate the original grouping. You can now add your extra bones to the item. Someone else might know a quicker way around this. If the item is for your own use, then you can have a totally invisible body handle - set it up as above, or in the Daz tutorial, but without the target object. The body handle will still work, but can only be selected from the dropdown list.

I've been looking, but unable to find, a tutorial or article dealing with creating body handles for a figure. What exactly is involved? I looked through Dr. Geep's Setup room tutorial, but I either missed it or he doesn't cover it.
