Subject: lighting within a tube (glowing?)

i 've got this "tube" running around the earth, and would like it to glow....and Im not succeeding, any ideas?

Can you show us a screen-capture of the shader for the 'tube'? It would help us to know where to look to help.

Oh your tube is a ring (or torus), not like a flourescent tube.... Use a SHAPE LIGHT set to "ring" and centered to your torus. You will need to tilt the shapelight until it aligns correctly, and adjust distance and falloff. Add a little to the GLOW channel of your ring/tube's shader so it will appear to be emitting the light. Pretty!
