Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 14 12:36 pm)
there is an importer that DAZ sells.....it was also included in the nov and dec issues of 3d world and creative arts......it is suppose to import poser into bryce but i think the catch is it has to be done thru daz studio. i have not tried it out yet...i just got Bryce also. I seems to be very good for making quick landscape scenes....there are other ways to get poser into bryce also i believe but this is suppose the be the easiest according to DAZ.
You can find MeTaL Fixer and/or Grouper, which will make it easier for you to import textures. Bryce doesn't understand Poser transparencies, and that's where Turbo Importer comes into play. Open your figure in Studio, pass it through Importer and it should have things set. If you don't want to install/buy DAZ programs, the two programs above will help. Bryce always asks where your textures are if they are not in the same directory where the figure is. You can easily (if a bit tediosuly) find them in the Poser Runtime directory.

In fact I generally don't bother with location of files referenced in the Poser obj file (just cancel) and then texture from scratch in Bryce, saving commonly used materials in the library. I will also set up a character once (it only requires about four material zones, depending on model, after it's been through Grouper) and then copy the materials to a new imported instance of the same character. Full description of the process at the link. What I do is copy all the textures used by the scene into a Bryce WIP folder where I also save the exported Poser obj and then Bryce will have no trouble finding them when I import the obj.

I've just sent away for Bryce 5. Will I be able to import scenes that I've created in Poser and render them in Bryce?
