Hi everybody, We just opened a poll to find out if most people do or do not want to automatically receive ebots on forum posts. Hope to hear from you all!! Ryuslilangel Poser Coordinator

Can't you just turn them off if you don't want them?

KarenJ ( ) posted Fri, 28 January 2005 at 1:41 AM

You would still be able to choose on every post so set them on... or off... the poll is concerning what the default status is set to. At the moment, you have to remember to set it to "no" if you don't want them. There was a suggestion it should be the other way around and that you should only get ebots if you remembered to check that option.

Here is a suggestion in the form of a question. Why not just allow the user to set his own preferance by adding an option in the "My Profile" section? Problem solved.

And, what would be better, is the ability to stop getting them after the thread goes off course.

I like em. Keeps me informed of someone has replied.

jenay ( ) posted Fri, 28 January 2005 at 6:27 AM

yes, I want them.

Wnat them. Definitly.

Argon18 ( ) posted Fri, 28 January 2005 at 8:13 AM

And, what would be better, is the ability to stop getting them after the thread goes off course. I'd agree with that, since there should be an easier way to to turn them back off than having to post in that thread again because what would you say after it had gone off course?

This is confusing. The link provided at the top of the thread sends us to yet another link. Here's the correct link.

I think you should be able to say whether you want to be still watching a particular thread.

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Fri, 28 January 2005 at 10:01 AM

Don't want them unless I check it. Right now the first thing I try and do is turn the dang things off.

Ardiva ( ) posted Fri, 28 January 2005 at 3:10 PM

Looks like the poll is in favor of keeping things as they are. I don't like this as sometimes I'm in a hurry and forget to uncheck the "Email me when someone replies", then I'm stuck with receiving the ebots when I don't really want them! We need to have a choice, dagnabit! Grrrrrrrr.

Argon18 ( ) posted Fri, 28 January 2005 at 3:27 PM

Forum Ebot Notifications - Default Setting With regards the Forums area, we would like to know: When creating or replying to a post in the forums, do you want to automatically get ebots when someone replies to your posts, or threads you commented on? Yes-"Email me when someone replies" is selected 70.1% No-"Email me when someone replies" is not selected 29.9% Well the poll choices don't seem to include what you do after you have an email reply, shouldn't there be an option included to stop them after a certain point?

NO I don't. If I dont get a choice and my inbox fillups with a hundred ebots from a thread, you will no longer see me here and, I like posting on this forum. :(

I got a better idea. Let's get an Ignore button. Think of how many bitter arguments we can avoid.

zippyozzy ( ) posted Fri, 28 January 2005 at 6:59 PM

lol. how would that keep ebots from filling up your inbox? ;)

Bobbie_Boucher ( ) posted Fri, 28 January 2005 at 7:34 PM

It wouldn't. But I never get that many ebots.

Ben_Dover ( ) posted Sat, 29 January 2005 at 3:58 AM

I voted that they should be off by default, it sucks when you forget to uncheck that box. To fix this, and to turn off future notifications of that thread, just go back, post again and uncheck the box. Fixed. It could have been avoided in the first place if the default wasn't "email me...blah blah blah..". While we're on the subject of improvements, how about making the Poser FAQ and the forum search links considerably larger and/or in a more prominent place. There's been a flood of "hi, i'm new", "heeeeeeeelllllp" and "why can't I clothe my figure" questions in the Poser forum lately. ;)
