Subject: DAZ installer not working?

Ascinct ( ) posted Mon, 31 January 2005 at 7:03 AM · edited Wed, 06 November 2024 at 10:34 AM

hello all, Ive just purchased "ps_ac646b_TempleRuins.exe" from the DAZ3D website. I was feeling really good (as ya do when you buy something new!) I went to intall the product, but the .exe file wont load (it tries to load but times out..)So I downloaded it again, thinking "maybe it didn't DL properly"...but this second installer did the same! (I even restarted my computer thinking it was my machine...) Now I have 1 DL try left, and Ive never come across this before, I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem, and how to overcome it! Thankyou, Ascinct

I went to the "Temple Ruins" Product page on the DAZ 3D website and it says that the installer is: PC Download Size: 36.38 Mb However both times I downloaded it, the file size was 10.2MB. The download is not timing out, as I have a fast internet connection and it says that the download has completed. Maybe there is something stopping the full download to occur?

Try contacting DAZ directly. Let them know.

I've had this with Mozilla. If you have that, there's a 'Download Manager', and it downloads things in the background w/o letting you know the current status. I'm not sure if IE has the same thing or not. If you're only getting 10 meg, you might be getting cut off or something. If you see "file.zip.part" or some such as the listing for the downloaded file, that's often another indicator that it's not done.
Another thing I've been told recently, is that the final screen on the Installation may not show up in Mozilla, which is a pain, because it's the 'where to look for your new product'..;)

If the drive with IE's "Temporary Internet Files" doesn't have enough space to hold the whole file, it gives up part way through with no message.
Try clearing your cache and / or clearing some space on the appropriate drive.

OK, that may explain why another very large download isn't working for me. There is plenty of space on the designated drive, and watching the slider, it ticks off enough MBs, but my temp partition is set for a lower size.
