Subject: Hairless Michael?

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Sat, 05 February 2005 at 6:46 PM · edited Sun, 19 January 2025 at 4:53 PM

Hi all, I am happy to say that Michael, after months standing on a rocky ledge overlooking a stormy ocean in Bryce4 is now clothed! Okay, he's wearing a dress, but at least I meant him to be wearing that. Sorry, "robe" - suits the ambience anyway. My current problem/s are that he arrives in Bryce4 hairless and blind. I think there was something somewhere about doing eyes - can't remember where, if anyone else can help me out with that, it would be great. But what about the hair? How on earth do I get Michael, robed and WITH hair into Bryce4? (I've tried both the hair ready in Poser and GROWING hair in Poser - it makes no difference either way he arrives in Bryce4 bald as a coot!) Please? Help? Fran

Dynamic hair wont work in bryce you will have to use the "prop" hair like the kozaburo stuff etc.

There is a tutorial at the link called the trouble with victoria that tells you how to make the eyes work.

xantor, Oh, so none of the hair in Poser will work in Bryce4 at all? Thanks for the petersharpe link. Fran

None of the poser 5 specific dynamic hair will work in bryce 4 but the hair that is a non moving object will work.

Fran, There's dynamic hair (which is the stuff you grow) and there is regular hair, which can be conforming (like the Long Conforming Curls which will move as the body moves) or a Prop (like most short hair which doesn't go past the neck). You do have another option... if you have a sorceror or adventurer type out in the wilderness, he is likely to be wearing a hat. You may want to look in Free Stuff to see what is available. You can probably also find a nice selection of walking sticks/magical staffs. Carolly

Carolly & xantor, So, if I want wild hair, that's streaming in the stormy wind - I can't have it? (This storm will also mean that a hat, tall, pointy, wizards for the use of, won't stay on!) I've found some "messy hair" on Kozaburo's site, where I was directed for hair that does stay on when importing to Bryce4... So are you saying that it WON'T stay on? Fran

By the way... do magnets in Poser (that I've heard vaguely about) mean you could pull cloth, so that it looks like the wind is tugging at it? Just trying to get this wip to work as well as I can... Fran

The kozaburo hair will stay on, studio maya has some hair that might work and netherworks studio has some hair fitting conversion things that make most ( non-dynamic )hair work with michael. Magnets could be used to make clothes appear blown by the wind.

If you have poser 5 you can make a cloth room simulation with the wind generator and if you get an animation frame you like you can export that frame as an object and that could be used in bryce.

I think I'll try the Kozaburo hair before rushing out for anything else. Though I still need to find out about these magnet thingies. Fran
